Analytical modelling of masonry-infilled steel frames

Masonry itself is a composite heterogeneous material whose structural behaviour is strongly affected by many influencing parameters with a wide range of possible values, construction procedures as well as care methods taken afterwards. When the masonry panel is added into the surrounding frame the complex interactive frame-infill system is established exhibiting highly nonlinear inelastic structural behaviour. Therefore, the analytical modelling of masonry-infilled frame structures is a very complex task that demands various data matching given in-situ conditions, otherwise applied methods and analytical models used have only a theoretical value. In this paper analytical modelling of infilled steel frame structures is based on previously experimentally calibrated data. The base for calibration of analytical models was experimental testing of one-bay, one-storey infilled steel frames conducted at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. Two series by three steel frames were infilled with perforated clay blocks (‘strong infill’) and autoclaved aerated concrete blocks (‘weak infill’) respectively. The significant difference in structural behaviour of these two kinds of masonry infill is observed and modelled. The macro-models (single-strut and three-strut model and infill-panel macro-model) and detailed 2D micro-models were applied. A total of eight analytical models were analysed with their relevant characteristics along with the quality of epresentation of the measured global and local results as well as their applicability.

State of the art review of the stability and welding of aluminium alloy elements

Iako je aluminij vec dugo prisutan konstrukcijski materijal, uporaba mu nije u skladu s dobrobitima koje se ostvaruju njegovom primjenom. Slican je celiku, no između njih postoje znacajne razlike kako u proizvodnji, tako i u fizikalnim i mehanickim svojstvima. Upravo iz tih razlika proizlaze posebnosti u podrucjima stabilnosti dijelova poprecnih presjeka i konstrukcijskih elemenata te u podrucjima zavara. Ta polja jos uvijek predstavljaju aktivna podrucja istraživanja zbog velikog broja legura, obrada i oblika poprecnih presjeka profila.

Applications of aluminium alloys in civil engineering

Although aluminium is a long known structural material, its use is not in accordance with the benefits achieved by its implementation. There are several reasons for such an adverse state. Those that stand out are the late development of a regulative framework for the design of structures, and still the need for improvement, lack of knowledge on application examples and not stressed enough potential areas of use. However, positive trends are present and aluminium alloys are competitive, especially if their positive properties can be utilized and negative properties diminished though purpose oriented design approach. Given examples present good application utilization of aluminium alloys characteristics, and shown new application research can provide directions for further expansion of competitiveness. Structural uses are grouped in suitable areas of application and put into local and global context.

Controlled seismic behaviour of masonry-infilled steel frames

Bilo da se radi o pregradnim ili nosivim zidovima, zidana ispuna znacajno utjece na ponasanje primarne konstrukcije. U ovom se radu najprije razmaBilo da se radi o pregradnim ili nosivim zidovima, zidana ispuna znacajno utjece na ponasanje primarne konstrukcije. U ovom se radu najprije razmatraju dvije razlicite vrste zidnih blokova (tzv. jaki i slabi) cesto koristenih u Hrvatskoj kao ispune celicnih okvira. Na osnovu eksperimentalnih rezultata dobivenih ispitivanjem ponasanja tih dviju vrsta blokova predložena je treca vrsta ispune koja predstavlja specificnu kombinaciju prethodnih dviju, kao mogucnost ostvarivanja kontroliranog ponasanja celicnih okvira sa zidanom ispunom.

PRORAČUN SPREGNUTE REŠETKASTE KONSTRUKCIJE VIŠEKATNE ZGRADE

Composite acti on is a structural solution that has increasing importance due to the significant potential in performance improvement of structural elements, and simplification of the construction technological process. Although steel - concrete composite structures are no w in use for more than a century, certain forms of composite action are still not sufficiently dealt with in modern standards. One of such solutions is a composite truss system, which is the subject of this paper. This type of construction has advantages t hat can be utilized in medium and large spans, and in comparison to steel trusses has a lower height. When it is combined with trapezoidal sheets for composite slabs it provides a number of practical advantages. Relevant literature reports that with the us e of this system load transfer efficiency increases by 20% to 30%, and the shown design example of a building for commercial purposes in composite and non - composite versions supports such a claim.

PRORAČUN KRANSKIH NOSAČA PREMA EUROKOD NORMAMA

U radu se opisuje nacin modeliranja opterecenja zbog djelovanja kranova prema Eurokod normama HRN EN 1991-3:2006. Taj se postupak svojom složenoscu i preciznoscu u izracunu djelovanja bitno razlikuje od dosadasnjih nacina proracuna. Na numerickom primjeru industrijske hale s kranom ilustriran je kodificirani nacin proracuna ovakvih konstrukcija prema Eurokod normama.
