Nadvožnjak nije moguce uciniti, projektiranjem i/ili izvedbom, apsolutno sigurnim na djelovanje eksplozije jer se ni sama kolicina eksploziva kojOverpasses can not be made absolutely safe to explosive action, regardless of interventions made during their design and/or realisation. This is due to the fact that the very quantity of explosive to be activated under the bridge during an attack can not be defined with an acceptable level of probability. Three quantities of explosives activated under the overpass structure are analysed. The load, behaviour, and damage to overpass superstructure are considered. It is stated in conclusion that all three quantities of explosive afflict considerable damage to usual overpasses, and cause their collapse. The nonlinear numerical analysis of the overpass was conducted using the Ansys Autodyn hydrocode software.

This paper provides a systematic review of research on glued laminated timber beams with circular and rectangular openings. Experiments on girders with unreinforced openings varied several parameters, including the girder span and shape, opening position and shape, and the relationship between the stress state near the opening and the ratio of opening size to girder size. We compare experimental results with recommendations given by DIN 1052:2004-08, DIN EN 1995-1-1/NA: 2010, prEN 1995-1-1: Final Draft, analytical expressions, and other relevant standards, as well as with the results of numerical models using the finite element method. Because of its myriad complexities and uncertainties, this area remains open for further research and for implementation of that research into practical design guidelines and rules.

Results of numerical simulations of explosion events greatly depend on the mesh size. Since these simulations demand large amounts of processing time, it is necessary to identify an optimal mesh size that will speed up the calculation and give adequate results. To obtain optimal mesh sizes for further large-scale numerical simulations of blast wave interactions with overpasses, mesh size convergence tests were conducted for incident and reflected blast waves for close range bursts (up to 5 m). Ansys Autodyn hydrocode software was used for blast modelling in axisymmetric environment for incident pressures and in a 3D environment for reflected pressures. In the axisymmetric environment only the blast wave propagation through the air was considered, and in 3D environment blast wave interaction and reflection of a rigid surface were considered. Analysis showed that numerical results greatly depend on the mesh size and Richardson extrapolation was used for extrapolating optimal mesh size for considered blast scenarios.

Cross laminated timber is an innovative plate-shaped product presenting a laminated structure and excellent physicomechanical properties. Due to its high stiffness and in-plane and out-of-plane bearing capacity, it is most often used in form of wall or floor panels. Favourable environmental, aesthetic and energy properties further enhance its qualities. The paper is a summary of CLT research conducted so far, with an emphasis on the need to harmonise existing regulations and include this product in the European standard for timber structures Eurocode 5.

Microsimulation models are frequently used in traffic analysis. Various optimization methods are used in calibration, and the one method that has shown success is neural networks. This paper shows the responses of neural networks during calibration of a microsimulation traffic model. We analyzed two calibration methods by applying neural networks and comparing their neural network learning (according to their achieved correlation and the mean error of prediction) and their generalization ability (comparison of generalization results was analyzed in two steps). The best correlation between the microsimulation results and neural network prediction was 88.3%, achieved for the traveling time prediction, on which the first calibration method is based.
