Norterpenoid and sesquiterpenoid glucosides from Juniperus phynicea and Galega officinalis

Yves Champavier; Gilles Comte; Joseph Vercauteren; Daovy P. Allais; Albert J. Chulia

Abstract Four norterpenoid glucosides have been characterized along with a sesquiterpenoid glucoside from the aerial parts of Juniperus phynicea and Galega officinalis . Among these five compounds, two norterpenoids which are 3-oxo-a-ionol glucosides named junipeionoloside and 6-hydroxy-junipeionoloside are new natural products. These new norterpenoids were isolated from Juniperus phynicea together with an other known norterpenoid glucoside: roseoside and a sesquiterpenoid glucoside: dihydrophaseic acid 4′- O - β - d -glucopyranoside. We also have identified from Galega officinalis a rare norterpenoid glucoside: dearabinosyl pneumonanthoside.

Gilles Comte; Daovy P. Allais; Albert J. Chulia; Joseph Vercauteren; Noël Pinaud

Abstract Three new compounds, junipediol A [2-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane-1,3-diol], junipediol A 8-glucoside [1-β- d -glucosyloxy-2-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane-1,3-diol] and junipediol B 8-glucoside [1-β- d -glucosyloxy-2-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-propane-1,3-diol], have been isolated from acetone and methanolic extracts of the aerial parts of Juniperus phœnicea . The structural elucidation of these new natural products was achieved mainly by UV, mass and 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy.

Phenylpropanoids from leaves of Juniperus phoenicea

Gilles Comte; Joseph Vercauteren; Albert J. Chulia; Daovy P. Allais; Christiane Delage

Abstract Two new compounds, junipetriolosides A (3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-phenylpropane-7.8-(2′,1′- O -β- d -glucopyranosyl)-7.8,9-triol) and B (3-methoxy-4- O -β- d -glucopyranosyl-phenylpropane-7,8,9-triol) have been isolated from a methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Juniperus phoenicea , along with the rare compound, guaiacylglycerol (3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-phenylpropane-7,8,9,-triol). Structural elucidation of these natural products was achieved mainly by spectroscopic methods.

Phæniceroside, the first natural bis-furanone propane derivative from juniperus phænicea L.

Gilles Comte; Daovy P. Allais; Albert J. Chulia; Joseph Vercauteren; Claude Bosso

Abstract Phaeniceroside 1 or 2,2-bis-(5-methyl-4-( O -β-D-glucopyranosyl)-3(2H)-furanone)-propane have been isolated from Juniperus phaenicea L. (Cupressaceae). The structural elucidation of this new natural product was achieved by UV, MS, 1 H, 13 C NMR spectroscopy. The structure was confirmed by chemical way.

3-Desoxycallunin and 2″-acetylcallunin, two minor 2,3-dihydroflavonoid glucosides from Calluna vulgaris

Daovy P. Allais; Albert J. Chulia; Mourad Kaouadji; Alain Simon; Christiane Delage

Abstract The ethyl acetate soluble fraction obtained from the acetone extract of fresh Calluna vulgaris heather flowers afforded a mixture of two minor 2,3-dihydroflavonoid glucosides. Separations were achieved by column chromatography on polyamide as well as by reversed phase MPLC and HPLC. Structural elucidations were performed by UV, 1 H and 13 C NMR. The two novel compounds which are related to the major constituent, callunin were identified as 3-desoxycallunin and 2″-acetylcallunin. This is the first report of a flavanone 8-glucoside and the second report of a dihydroflavonol 8-glucoside in the plant kingdom.

Two furanone glucoside derivatives from Juniperus phœnicea

Gilles Comte; Daovy P. Allais; Albert J. Chulia; Joseph Vercauteren; Christiane Delage

Abstract The rare compound, psydrin (5-methyl-4-O-(β- d -glucopyranosyl)-3(2H)-furanone) and the new 5-methyl-4-O-(β- d -glucopyranosyl)-3(2-isopropylidenyl)-furanone have been isolated from an acetone extract of the aerial parts of Juniperus phœnicea . Structural elucidation of the new product was achieved mainly by spectroscopic methods.
