Organizations that are actively engaged in the dissemination of market information frequently question whether this effort improves employee information processing. We examined how the adoption of two integrative dissemination mechanisms, unified internal communication and information technology integration, is critical to enhancing employee market knowledge absorptive capacity. Using data from 211 industrial firms, we found that the existence of a greater market knowledge base and explicit market knowledge within firms determines the use of these mechanisms, which in turn increases employee absorptive capacity. Indeed, the mechanisms serve as full mediators for this ability, thus accentuating their value for knowledge, information technology, and innovation management.

ABSTRACT Despite the significance of relationship management in any information provision or exchange, public relations scholarship has typically focused on examining the underlying internal communication processes from a transactional perspective. These processes are frequently associated with organizational information dissemination, overlooking other critical contents to make strategic decisions. This study draws market information processing into the debate about internal communication, providing a greater understanding of how a relational approach can improve market intelligence dissemination. Results show that an effective management of market knowledge requires the use of such an approach, which in turn, cultivates the shared interpretation of market information and innovation performance. The findings stimulate fresh discussion about the nature and development of internal communication knowledge and practice.

Abstract This study explores the effectiveness of the sequential use of lectures and video podcasting in higher education. Drawing together several theories, this paper examines the influence of student’s perceived prior knowledge gained from lectures and technology acceptance model-related variables on student’s self-reported assimilation of new material presented through podcasting. Data were obtained from 179 undergraduates and were analyzed using a structural equation modelling approach. The results showed the influence of prior knowledge gained from lectures and effective use of video podcasts on perceived assimilation of additional knowledge. It was also found that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness determine the attitude towards using video podcasts, which in turn positively affects the effective use of this tool. The findings suggest that lectures are very valuable to develop learning processes based on the podcasting technology and also that encouraging the acceptance and effective use of video podcasting is important in the learning experience.
