Chinese has become the worlds strong language, and also set off a trend of learning. How to improve teaching methods and strategies to effectively help non-native speakers to overcome the language barrier is very critical. with the popularity of the internet and e-learning, learning technologies has led the learning activities and environment into a multi-dimensional world. Recently, context aware technology is a new trend for developing a ubiquitous learning environment which features emphasize the real life learning situation and problem solving practice. in this study, integrating situated learning strategy and context awareness technology to develop an elementary Chinese language learning system for exchange students at a large university in north Taiwan. the pilot testing results show the exchange students highly satisfy this system and the learning attitude is also positive while using this system.

We investigate how the computerized dynamic assessment system improves the learning achievements of vocational high school students studying accounting. Our experiment was conducted under the one-group pretest-posttest design of 34 junior students. The questionnaire results were analyzed to determine student-learning attitudes and reactions toward “self-knowledge of accounting,” “dynamic assessment system design,” “dynamic assessment system learning effects,” and “user satisfaction.” The results show that the continuous assessments designed for the accounting course using error identification, feedback, and guidance greatly assist in building student-learning concepts. However, certain students are either unfamiliar with using computers or refuse guided instructions for learning, which leads to little performance improvement. Nearly 85.3% of the participants consider that this system is worth recommending.

Due to the advanced computer and network technologies, it could be helpful to conduct an advanced distance learning system for learners to process their learning activities in anytime and anywhere. However, according to many research issues which found that the learning motivation is the most important element to encourage people into their learning and assessment activities. In this paper, we proposed the 2D Adventure Game-Based Assessment System which not only could draw people into their learning activities, but could help instructors easily to design and manage the related learning and assessment content.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the Wiki and its influence on the anxiety produced during cross-cultural web-based collaborative learning sessions. Design/methodology/approach – In total, 49 high school students participated in transnational collaborative learning and engaged in a one-month Google Wiki activity. A transnational collaborative learning anxiety inventory was used to measure the anxiety of the participants, which included the dimensions of social anxiety, foreign language anxiety, and computer anxiety. In addition, platform usage records were compiled using Google Wiki user records and participation process checklists. Relative data derived from these two items were compared with the questionnaire data. Findings – The results indicated that participants who had experience with Wiki transnational collaborative learning exhibited significantly reduced SA and FLA. Participation process and user records revealed that embedding videos; responding to content created by others;...

From the perspective of instructional design, when facing the different knowledge domains, the instructional strategies and activities should be matched for the different contents It is equally important when using LMS as a delivering platform for the web-based learning. However, regardless the popular mutual functions, most of LMSs do not provide teaching supporting tools or activities in particular knowledge domains for instructor to use. Therefore, LMS is only working as a better looking FTP, but not able to help instructors to deliver better instruction. In order to tackle this issue, this study first employed content analysis to induce the teaching strategies of conceptual knowledge domain and analyze the basic functions of LMSs on market. Then, following the content analysis, based on the open source code LMS Moodle, a plug in, strategical learning tool “concept pointer” has be designed and developed. Via the formative evaluation from experts, instructors and students, its advantage and usage have been discussed.According to the formative evaluation, the “concept pointer” could help instructors to highlight the learning content and inspire learners’ understanding. As the results, the strategical learning tool “concept pointer” provided the positive effects to teaching and learning in the conceptual knowledge domain.

Most of college freshmen feel frustrated in using learning strategies when they start taking college courses. Therefore, this study developed an online workshop for learning strategies for Tamkang University freshmen to help them learn in college. This 3-year project was based on instructional design model and produced 4 units online workshop. The material was evaluated by Corporate Synergy Development Center and was rated “A”. Freshmen voluntarily signed up for workshop. After finishing workshop, the evaluation was conducted. These freshmen, who were learning the online workshop, felt that they liked the online workshop and these learning strategies help them in their college studying.
