Skeletal changes associated with erythroblastosis fetalis

Richard H. Follis; Deborah A. Jackson; William H. Carnes

Summary We have described osseous changes both by x-ray and on microscopic examination in five cases of erythroblastosis. The alteration common to all was an increase in density. In addition, in three there were bands of decreased density which were probably nonspecific in origin.

The inhibition of clotting by chlorophyllin.

Joseph M. Miller; Deborah A. Jackson; Charles S. Collier

Abstract The water-soluble derivatives of chlorophyllin had the ability to inhibit the formation of fibrin clots when thrombin was added to fibrinogen. Apparently, a direct relationship was present between the amount of chlorophyllin and the concentration of fibrinogen in the reaction. Chlorophyllin did not cause the solution of fibrin clots after they were formed.

American Journal of Surgery | 1960

The inhibition of Russell's viper venom by the water-soluble derivatives of sodium-copper chlorophyllin

Joseph M. Miller; Deborah A. Jackson; Charles S. Collier

Abstract The water soluble derivatives of sodium-copper chlorophyllin had the ability to inhibit the formation of fibrin clots when Russells viper venom was added to recalcified human plasma. An apparent stoichiometric relationship was present between the chlorophyllin and the fibrinogen in the human plasma.

American Journal of Surgery | 1959

The inhibition of the coagulase of the staphylococcus aureus by the water-soluble derivatives of sodium-copper chlorophyllin

Joseph M. Miller; Deborah A. Jackson; Charles S. Collier

Abstract The water-soluble derivatives of sodium-copper chlorophyllin had the ability to inhibit the clotting of human plasma by the coagulase of the Staph. aureus. The critical concentration of the water-soluble derivatives of chlorophyllin for the test system which was used was between a 0.040 per cent solution and a 0.045 per cent solution.

American Journal of Surgery | 1961

An investigation of plastic dressings for clinical use.

Joseph M. Miller; Deborah A. Jackson; Charles S. Collier

Abstract Three plastic dressings for clinical use were investigated. The surface on which these dressings are used must be dry to obtain an impermeable film. An antimicrobial substance is a necessary additive to such dressings.
