Abstract A new name, Aristolochia wuana Zhen W. Liu & Y. F. Deng, is proposed to replace the later homonym Aristolochia macrocarpa C. Y. Wu & S. K. Wu ex D. D. Tao, not A. macrocarpa Duchartre. The species may be closely related to A. griffithii Hooker f. & Thomson ex Duchartre but differs in its retuse or rounded leaf apex (vs. acute or shortly acuminate), oblong capsule (vs. narrowly cylindrical), and the smooth upper surface of the seeds (vs. rugose).

ABSTRACT The name Strobilanthes sarcorrhiza (C. Ling) C. Z. Zheng (Acanthaceae) was not validly published in 1993 because the reference to the basionym was not cited fully. The name is validated here and represents a new combination referred from Championella Bremekamp. The taxon is similar to S. oligantha Miquel, but it differs in its rhizome thickened (vs. not thickened), petioles 0–0.3 cm (vs. 3–4 cm), leaf blades lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate (vs. broad-ovate to elliptic), lateral veins 7 to 9 (vs. 3 to 6), and spikes 2–4(−5) cm (vs. ca. 1 cm).

Abstract Comparative survey of morphological characters shows that Eranthemum tapingense W. W. Smith is better treated in Mackaya Harvey. Consequently, a new combination, M. tapingensis (W. W. Smith) Y. F. Deng & C. Y. Wu, is proposed, and its lectotype is designated. The species is distributed in China and Burma (Myanmar).

Justicia neolinearifolia N. H. Xia & Y.F. Deng (Acanthaceae) found in Lai Chau province is reported here for the first time for the flora of Vietnam. J. neolinearifolia can be distinguished from J. procumbens L. and J. diffusa Willd. by having linear leaf blade and bracts. The specimens are deposited in the Herbarium of the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (HN) Ha Noi, Vietnam. A detailed description, illustration, important taxonomic notes, and key to the three already known species are provided.

Abstract. One new name, Rubus neofuscifolius Y. F. Deng, replacing the later homonym R. fuscifolius T. T. Yu & L. T. Lu, and two new combinations, R. eucalyptus Focke var. villosus (Cardot) Y. F. Deng and R. linearifoliolus Hayata var. yanshanensis (Z. X. Yu & W. T. Ji) Y. F. Deng, are proposed.

Abstract. Ulmus kunmingensis W. C. Cheng (Ulmaceae), originally described in 1963, was an invalidly published name, because two collections, one flowering and one fruiting, were designated as types. The name is validated here with the designation of the fruiting collection W. C. Cheng 11002 (NF) as the holotype.

Abstract A new species, Strobilanthes ovata Y. F. Deng & J. R. I. Wood (Acanthaceae), is described and illustrated. The new species is another endemic species from Gaoligong Shan in southwest Yunnan similar to S. decipiens J. R. I. Wood, but differs in its glabrous leaves, winged rachis, the distant, spicate flowers, and the ovate, oblong-ovate, or rounded bracts.

Abstract A new species of Acanthaceae, Strobilanthes biocullata Y. F. Deng & J. R. I. Wood, from China, is described and illustrated. The species is found in Hunan, Guangxi, and Guangdong provinces, where it grows on rocks along streams. It clearly belongs to the group of species placed by Bremekamp in Semnostachya Bremek., but differs from all these by two swollen bulges on the dorsal surface of the long-acuminate bracts. Strobilanthes biocullata is the first Chinese species of Strobilanthes Blume reported to have a plietesial life history.

ABSTRACT During preparation of a treatment of Acanthaceae for the Flora of China, it was determined that Pararuellia alata H. P. Tsui from Yunnan, China, was not validly published because the herbarium in which the type is conserved was not specified. The name is herein validated with the herbarium now specified. The species can be distinguished from other Chinese Pararuellia Bremekamp by its winged inflorescence rachis.
