Objective to identify the factors related to the failure of women to attend the follow-up consultation to receive the results of the Pap smear test. Method a cross-sectional study, carried out with 775 patients who underwent the Pap smear test in the Centro de Saúde da Família of Fortaleza, between September 2010 and February 2011. Results the majority of the women studied were young (≤35 years), had low levels of education (≤7 years of study), and commenced sexual activity early (≤20 years), with 17.0% of them failing to return to receive the test results. Statistically significant results for the failure to return were related to: young women (p=0.001); early onset of sexual activity (p=0.047); and inadequate knowledge about the Pap smear test (p=0.029). Conclusion the fact that the women failed to return for the result is a problem for the control of cervical cancer and must be addressed through educational strategies that reinforce the importance of the return for the early detection of this cancer.OBJETIVO: identificar los factores relacionados a la no asistencia de las mujeres a la consulta de retorno para recibir el resultado de la prueba de Papanicolaou. CONCLUSION: el hecho de la mujer no retornar para recibir el resultado es un problema para el control del cancer de cuello uterino y debe ser combatido por medio de estrategias educativas que refuercen la importancia del retorno para la deteccion precoz de ese cancerOBJECTIVE: to identify the factors related to the failure of women to attend the follow-up consultation to receive the results of the Pap smear test. The objective was to identify behaviors and sexual practices of men who have sexual relations with other men in the context of vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. This was a cross-sectional, exploratory and descriptive study. It was carried out in a gay sociability place in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, between November 2010 and March 2011, through interviews with 189 men who have sex with men. The ethical aspects were respected. We found a sample consisting mostly by young, single, and highly educated men. The sexual history demonstrated the early onset of sexual activity, with a high prevalence of sexual intercourse with a partner of the opposite sex. There was also a high prevalence of HIV testing. Sexual practices revealed high prevalence of performing oral and anal sex, as well as high levels of protection in anal sex, despite the low protection in oral sex. A greater incorporation of prevention practices was found compared to the national scene in the beginning of the disease outbreak.

Aim: To evaluate the population coverage for Papanicolaou tests and to analyze the results not collected by patients at a Family Health Center in Fortaleza, CE - Brazil. Method: Retrospective research conducted via the analysis of exams archived between 2007 and 2009. Results: The population coverage of preventive examinations was below the desired goal, as 1346 examinations were performed per year, corresponding to population coverage of 60%. The presence of Lactobacilli sp. was related to the presence of mild inflammation (p = 0.000). Gardnerella vaginallis was related to the absence of mild inflammation (p = 0.000). The presence of Trichomonas vaginallis had no relation to light (p = 0.041) or moderate inflammation (p = 0.022). In all test results where low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN I) was found, the HPV was present. Conclusion: The number of women not returning to receive the test results made the monitoring, completeness and continuity of the care difficult.
