Determination of Educational Needs and Self-Efficacy Perceptions of Special Education Teachers.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the need for curriculum development of special education teachers who work at special education centres and schools with resource rooms with regard to different variables and determine their perceptions of self-efficacy. In this study, a general survey model was employed that allows a general opinion about the universe. The population of the study consists of a total of 84 special education teachers who work at special education centres and schools with resource rooms that function under the Primary and Secondary Education Office of the TRNC Ministry of National Education. ‘Needs Analysis Survey’ and ‘Teacher’s Self-Efficacy Scale’ are employed to collect data. The results reveal that teachers urgently need an education curriculum to be developed. Moreover, teachers’ perception of efficacy is at an intermediate level.

Predictions and Attitudes towards Giftedness and Gifted Education

Abstract This study aims to determine the predictions and attitudes of teacher candidates studying in theeducation department towards the education of gifted children. Descriptive statistics with a combination ofquantitative and qualitative methods were used in this study. The participants of the study consist of 245 universitystudents. 20 of them studying in the Gifted Education Department and Primary School Education Department arealso included for the applying of the semi-structured interview form.To collect the quantitative data, the “attitudescale towards gifted education” and semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher were used as datacollection tools. Results show that teacher candidates have positive attitudes towards the education of giftedchildren. Most of the teacher candidates studying in the gifted education department have predicted the best partof working with gifted children as taking their cognitive behavior into consideration while a few of them havetaken their affective and psychomotor behavior into consideration.

The Development of Multiple Intelligence with Storytelling

Abstract The present paper aims to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of curriculum for multipleintelligence development in preschool students based on constructivism through the storytelling methodology.The study was designed using a descriptive and experimental mixed methods approach. The experimental group forthe study consisted of 24 randomly selected five-year-old preschool students who were enrolled in public preschoolduring the year 2014-2015. The researcher developed a survey for “Implementations of Multiple Intelligences”, and video cameras and videotapes were used as data collection tools. A paired sample t-test and content analysiswere conducted in order to analyze the data from the study. The results indicated that the preschool studentsachieved a high level of development in linguistic/verbal intelligence, spatial intelligence, bodily kinesthetic andnaturalist intelligence areas through the use of the storytelling method. Furthermore, some positive effects werealso seen in the logical-mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence and intrapersonalintelligence areas.
