Objective: clinically characterizing cornea transplant patients and their distribution according to indicated and post-operative conditions of cornea transplantation, as well as estimating the average waiting time. Method: a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study performed for all cornea transplants performed at a reference service (n=258). Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 20.0. Results: the main indicator for cornea transplant was keratoconus. The mean waiting time for the transplant was approximately 5 months and 3 weeks for elective transplants and 9 days for urgent cases. An association between the type of corneal disorder with gender, age, previous surgery, eye classification, glaucoma and anterior graft failure were found. Conclusion: keratoconus was the main indicator for cornea transplant. Factors such as age, previous corneal graft failure (retransplantation), glaucoma, cases of surgeries prior to cornea transplant (especially cataract surgery) may be related to the onset corneal endothelium disorders.ABSTRACT Objective: clinically characterizing cornea transplant patients and their distribution according to indicated and post-operative conditions of cornea transplantation, as well as estimating the average waiting time. OBJECTIVE Identifying the strategies used to promote critical thinking (CT) during undergraduate education in nursing courses. DESIGN Systematic review. SOURCE OF DATA Five electronic databases were searched without language, publication time or geographic filters. METHOD A systematic review of the literature. Including experimental studies that considered at least one teaching strategy to promote critical thinking of undergraduate students in Nursing courses. The search for studies occurred in three phases: title and summary review, complete text and implementation of a clinical form of selection according to predetermined criteria. All included studies were assessed for quality through a classification tool for experimental studies. RESULTS Six studies were selected. The results were grouped into three key themes: an evaluation of the quality of the selected studies, characterization of the studies and the strategies used to promote critical thinking. All selected studies were in English, with significant conceptual similarity of Critical Thinking and dominance in choosing the approached theme during strategies in clinical nursing education with an emphasis on the nursing process. CONCLUSIONS The most widely used teaching intervention was Problem-Based Learning. Nursing education mediated by strategies that stimulate CT is considered a positive difference in undergraduate curriculums.

Objetive: discuss the importance of multidisciplinary care for patients undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) based on the transdisciplinary care. Method: This is a theoretical essay discussing. Results: Each year, about 50 million people are undergoing HSCT worldwide. This therapeutic strategy is used for some oncological, hematological or immunological, malignant and non-malignant inherited or acquired diseases. During the steps after HSCT, patients, and their families experience moments of anxiety, anguish and uncertainty that cause stress and interfere with their daily lives. The multidisciplinary team working in HSCT service provide complex and specialized care since this scenario requires specific knowledge of the area. However, they do not relieve the interweaving of new knowledge for an interdisciplinary practice that meets the patient´s health needs in this delicate moment of his life. From this perspective, health professionals of HSCT service should excel by constantly learning and dynamic interventions and sharing of knowledge in the multidisciplinary team that includes a complex and transdisciplinary care. Conclusion: This essay causes the discussion about care in HSCT based on transdisciplinary care. It should be emphasized the responsibility of each member of the multidisciplinary team for the contribution and strengthening of the patient´s quality of life. In a way, the interdisciplinary care permeates the complexity in an open perspective of approximation of the various areas of knowledge.

Reflections on some assumptions of the theory of Communicative Action and the development of Critical Thinking in the context of training students in undergraduate nursing courses. The perspective is based on concepts of Jürgen Habermas, as a possibility for the development of critical thinking among the students of these courses. Communication is therefore understood as inherent in the training of nurses in a continuous, dynamic, dialogical process, with interventions that are related to the context of the students and that have meaning for them, in order to contribute to the promotion of Critical Thinking.

Objective : To clinically characterize some cases of lamellar keratoplasty performed in a referral center of Rio Grande do Norte state. Methods : This is a cross-sectional, retrospective study, which is the review of the medical records of 18 patients who underwent keratoplasty of lamellar type in a referral service in Natal/RN. Results : it was found that of 18 patients who underwent keratoplasty, 55.56% were male, being all patients with deep anterior lamellar. Regarding the age group, 66.67% were thirty years old or less. The corneal vascularization of tissue was a factor receptor absent in 77.78% of cases. The main indication for lamellar keratoplasty were keratoconus (66.66%). Of the cases in which transplantation was done with urgency, ocular diagnoses were not infectious ulcerative keratitis (50%), corneal degeneration (25%) and leukoma (25%). Conclusion : it is cocluded that the main indicator condition for lamellar keratoplasty was keratoconus. Patients who underwent the procedure were 30 years old or less, with minimum level of corneal vascularization and absence of glaucoma. Furthermore, the surgical technique predominantly used for lamellar transplantation was the deep lamellar keratoplasty due to its advantages over penetrating keratoplasty.

Objective : To analyze the investigations regarding the survival of corneal tissue transplanted into patients affected by keratoconus. Method : This is a review study with the following guiding question: “What are the factors that influence the survival of transplanted corneal tissue in patients with keratoconus?” An integrative review protocol was built for this study to ensure methodological rigor required. The sample selection was through a survey of articles in electronic databases PubMed/MEDLINE, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Scopus and Science Direct in October 2014. Indexed descriptors in MeSH and/or synonyms were used: “keratoconus”; “Corneal transplantation” or “keratoplasty”; “Survival analysis” or “analysis of survival” or “method Kaplan-Meier.” Results : The final sample were thirteen articles available in full in accessible databases. Most of the studies were presented in the retrospective cohort design and used the Kaplan-Meier method for survival analysis. This data varied according to the surgical technique used and the factors that interfere in episodes of rejection postoperatively. Conclusion : The survival of corneal tissue was directly related to the main factors involved in post-transplantation, like rejection, vascular changes, adopted surgical technique and inflammatory processes.
