Thermodynamic analysis and cogeneration of a cement plant in India-A case study

In the present paper the thermodynamic analysis of a cement plant located in Barak Valley has been carried out. The analysis can be used as a precursor to achieve the basic objectives of any cement plant i.e. minimizing energy consumptions, minimizing the cost of production, and maximizing plant productivity. A simple model has been developed on the basis of mass and energy balance and has been applied to BVCL. The various performance parameters of the different components have been evaluated by making use of data collected over a year and First law efficiency of kiln system has been estimated. A heat recovery steam power plant has been proposed for the generation of electricity, which utilizes the waste heat of this plant. The capacity of the steam power plant has been estimated.
