S-parameter models for transient simulation in Verilog-A

Tobias Maier; Dirk Droste; M. Siegel

This work presents a new method to model analog modules for transient simulations with their S-parameters and DC behavior. The model can be used for verification of analog circuits in a system simulation where the modeling is necessary to speed up transient simulations in analog domain for systems like Sigma Delta modulators (SDM) or DC/DC converters. The model includes circuitry to separate DC from AC in transient simulations to test various distortions on system level, like the power supply rejection. It is functional and shows high speed up for certain simulations.

Challenges of ASIC development for sensor nodes in automotive and consumer applications

Dirk Droste

Summary form only given. Contemporary development projects of ASICs for sensor-nodes in automotive and consumer industry are facing a variety of challenges due to strong requirements for robustness, performance and flexibility for automotive applications and strong requirements about power consumption and die-size for consumer applications. The ASIC development divisions of the Robert Bosch GmbH are facing these challenges in multiple ASIC projects for sensor nodes and derive suitable competitive structures of fast but sustaining development methodologies. This talk gives a brief essay about aspects of ASIC development approaches for automotive applications, covering partitioning and technology choices, frontend design for challenging requirements of performance, robustness and long-term reliability and flexible architectures for signal processing and interfacing. Also, a small essay about diverging requirements to ASIC development for automotive and consumer applications is given.
