In this article we do a reading of Joaquim Manuel de Macedos novel, A Moreninha, from the point of view of the production of texts that aims the construction the idea of modernity, common worth for medical, educational and historiographical discourse in the 19th. Century. We also intend to provide methodological elements to the historical analysis of literary documents and we evaluate the limits and possibilities of the use of this language in History teaching. We take the literature as a specific documental source that needs a refined analysis, in order to apprehend the historical elements that are associated with the textual dimension and the contexts of production and reception.

CARIOCA is an amplifier shaper discriminator chip, developed in IBM 0.25μm CMOS for the readout of the LHCb muon wire chambers. Four prototype chips were designed and fabricated over the last two years with a step by step approach testing the different functionalities of the chip. In this paper the design and test results of a positive polarity and negative polarity amplifier, as well as a shaper circuit, are discussed.

The text analyses the life cycle, discursive practices and content of Serie Ideias, which is an educational journal published by Fundacao para o Desenvolvimento da Educacao (FDE), Sao Paulo Department of education; it is compound by 31 issues, that have been published between 1998 and 2004. Most issues were published between 1998 (New Constitution) and 1996 (when Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educacao Nacional was approved). We understand actions taken by Brazilian State, which secure universalization of access and enlargement of compulsory education have produced – beyond laws and official instruction corps –, socialization and identities building process, which made educational politics manners feasible by being administrated and their changes controlled. We have searched historic sources capable to indicate social actor´s tension, arranges and resistance and capable to rebuild educational questions at same time it was being formed and discussed. We have used the concept intermediary educational speeches, kind of grey literature, indeterminate - it is put on circulation through revision aid and continuing education books, reading collections for teachers, technical texts and a lot of non official publications, but distinct legal text for grasp representations about profession teaching, school, theory and teaching practice model on ideas of fairness, success and failure in school, which is taken as mobile ideas and sensitive to political, scientific and educational fields’ movement. The subject of this paper is the humorous chronicle of Stanislaw Ponte Preta, heteronym of Sergio Porto, published as book from 1964 to 1968. The main literary genre is the satirical one, and in order to study it, we analyzed the procedures and figures of speech of the texts: parody, stylization, metaphor, irony and comical affects. First we analyzed the point of view of the narrator and after we presented a framework of the humorous representations of the military, public employees, workers and government members and other politicians.
