INTELLIGENT BRAKING FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE VEHICLES

This paper focuses on two variations of intelligent brake control systems. The first is a four-wheel electro-hydraulic apply brake system. The second uses a front electro-hydraulic apply system with rear electric brakes. These intelligent brake control systems are expected to meet requirements of future vehicles including closed loop control and active control. The ergonomic features of these systems are briefly discussed. The integration of brake controls with other vehicle systems is also briefly examined.
