Handover scheme in a femto-cell system for peer-to-peer VoD download service

In this paper, we consider wireless P2P services based on femto-cell systems. In the wireless P2P system, changes in a network topology due to the handover have significant effects on the performance. We propose novel handover and cell management schemes in the femto-cell systems for peer-to-peer download service. The proposed schemes improve the download symbol rates and delay for handover in a P2P based VoD download service.

Joint hierarchical modulation and network coding for asymmetric data rate transmission over multiple-access relay channel

In this paper, we consider a time-division multiple-access relay channel (MARC), in which two source nodes (SNs) transmit data with different data rate to a destination node (DN) with the help of a relay node (RN). To provide asymmetric data rates, we consider joint hierarchical 16QAM (HM 16QAM) and network coding. Simulations results show that the joint HM 16QAM and network coding has similar throughput to the conventional network coding with zero padding when the RN is closer to the DN, whereas the joint 16QAM and network coding outperforms the network coding with zero padding when the RN is closer to the SNs.

Performance of open-loop MIMO precoders in the presence of a line-of-sight component

The performance of open-loop MIMO precoders is evaluated in the presence of a line-of-sight (LOS) component. Furthermore, the performance for the effect of the use of cross-polarized antennas is presented. The simulation results show that the proposed open-loop precoder works well even in the presence of the LOS with cross-polarized antennas.

Scalable multi-view video coding with hierarchical 64-QAM for seamless free-viewpoint TV service

In this paper, we consider three-level hierarchical 64-QAM with scalable multi-view video coding (SMVC) for seamless free-viewpoint TV (FTV) service. Performance evaluation results show that our proposed scheme achieves improved average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), compared to SMVC with conventional 64-QAM.
