Real-time Auto Tracking System using PTZ Camera with DSP

Cheol-Jun Jeong; Goo-Man Park

In this paper we proposed a PTZ camera system which automatically detect and track moving objects in the image. Once a moving object is detected the PTZ camera traces it in real-time. We proposed the control system which does not depend on camera focusing functionality but uses the object’s center, moving direction, distance and speed. We implemented the system with the TI DM6446 DSP chip. The experimental result shows that the system has excellent performance for high speed vehicles.

In this paper we proposed an intelligent PTZ camera system which detects, classifies and tracks moving objects. If a moving object is detected, features are extracted for classification and then realtime tracking follows. We used GMM for detection followed by shadow removal. Legendre moment is used for classification. Without auto focusing, we can control the PTZ camera movement by using center points of the image and object`s direction, distance and velocity. To implement the realtime system, we used TI DM6446 Davinci processor. Throughout the experiment, we obtained system`s high performance in classification and tracking both at vehicle`s normal and high speed motion.

Real Time Abandoned and Removed Objects Detection System

Cheol-Jun Jeong; Tae-Ki Ahn; Jong-Hwa Park; Goo-Man Park

We proposed a realtime object tracking system that detects the abandoned or disappeared objects. Because these events are caused by human, we used the tracking based algorithm. After the background subtraction by Gaussian mixture model, the shadow removal is applied for accurate object detection. The static object is classified as either of abandoned objects or disappeared object. We assigned monitoring time to the static object to overcome a situation that it is being overlapped by other object. We obtained more accurate detection by using region growing method. We implemented our algorithm by DSP processor and obtained an excellent result throughout the experiment.

Compensation of audio data with a high frequency components for realistic media FTV

Sung-Dae Yeo; Tae-Il Cho; Jong-Un Kim; Goo-Man Park; Seong-Kweon Kim

Like the concept of free-viewpoint TV (FTV), the audio data should be rendered according to video data. However, on condition that minimum numbers of microphone are used, it is difficult to acquire accurate audio signal for rendering audio data to the image with the choice of view point. Especially, degradation of high frequency components (HFC) happens due to the characteristic of polar pattern for microphone. The degradation of HFC causes imperfection of signal restoration and leads to the degradation of clarity for hearing. In this paper, a compensation method for the degradation of HFC audio signal is proposed for producing an immersive audio effect at realistic media. Our experimental results show that low frequency components (LFC) of audio signal had a little directional degradation in spite of effect of the polar patterns of microphone and the compensation of HFC can be realized with adapting the attenuation inclination of LFC. This research is expected to be helpful for producing an immersive audio effect for a realistic media.

Dongho You; Goo-Man Park; Jungyup Jang; Eun-jeong Kwon; Dong Ho Kim

In this paper, we consider three-level hierarchical 64-QAM with scalable multi-view video coding (SMVC) for seamless free-viewpoint TV (FTV) service. Performance evaluation results show that our proposed scheme achieves improved average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), compared to SMVC with conventional 64-QAM.

Due to the development of recent semiconductor manufacturing technology, LED drew big attention as a new light source. Moreover, LED light can improve the energy saving efficiency by a dimming system. In this paper, we describe the new LED light dimming system by using the light switch. Also, we present experimental results that show proposed dimming system is valid.

Cheol-Jun Jeong; Kwang-Young Park; Goo-Man Park

In this paper we have proposed a crowdedness estimation system at public areas where many people commute. We used the occupancy time to estimate the crowdedness per specific time duration. The estimated information is accumulated on database and will be used as statistical information.

A CCTV to ensure the safety of the routine has been used as a tool. Especially in recent years, CCTV has improved the performance of the hardware. As an example, CCTV were realized connection to a smart phone and supporting high-definition CCTV with the advent of CCTV images. This paper is part of the study for an effective monitoring of the object to define the role of private CCTV Multiple CCTV at the same time. Multiple CCTV and dynamic roles are needed to define to separate between the algorithms and policies. To this end, this article was fused of CS-RBAC concept with 3D CCTV. In this article, the proposed scheme for effective use of CCTV is expected to be available in various environments.

Object Detection by Gaussian Mixture Model and Shape Adaptive Bidirectional Block Matching Algorithm

Goo-Man Park; Byung-Wan Han; Tae-Ki An; Kwang‐Jeek Lee

We proposed a method to improve moving object detection capability of Gaussian Mixture Model by suggesting shape adaptive bidirectional block matching algorithm. This method achieves more accurate detection and tracking performance at various motion types such as slow, fast, and bimodal motions than that of Gaussian Mixture Model. Experimental results showed that the proposed method outperformed the conventional methods.

Two-Layered DCT Based Coding for a Digital HD-VCR

Jae-Hyun Kim; Goo-Man Park; Yong-Je Kim

For the purpose of digital recording of HDTV signals we have designed a bit rate reduction coder that can reduce the input data rate by a compression ratio greater than 2, while maintaining excellent picture quality for studio applications. In this paper we have developed an adaptive quantization algorithm to decide quantization step size that can optimize bit allocation in a cluster unit. We have also developed an advanced dynamic tracking(ADT) technology using two-layered data format for trick play.
