Designation of a New Type Strain for Listeria monocytogenes Request for an Opinion

We request that strain ATCC 15313 be replaced by strain NCTC 7973 as the type strain of Listeria monocytogenes.

Reclassification of Brevibacterium leucinophagum Kinney and Werkman as a Gram-Negative Organism, Probably in the Genus Acinetobacter

A study of the tricarboxylic acid cycle enzymes of Brevibacterium leucinophagum ATCC 13809, the type strain of this species, together with morphological, physiological, and electron microscopy studies indicated that, contrary to its present classification, B. leucinophagum is gram negative and probably is better classified in the genus Acinetobacter.

COMMENTS ON THE SPECIES STAPHYLOCOCCUS EPIDERMCDIS (WINSLOW AND WINSLOW) EVANS ANDl STAPHYLOCOCCUS SAPROPHY TICUS FAIRBROTHER

ABSTRACT The nomenclature and characterization of Staphylococcus epidermidis (Winslow and Winslow 1908) Evans, 1916 and Staphylococcus saprophyticus Fairbrother, 1940 are reviewed. It is apparent that these names have been applied to one and the same species and are therefore subjective synonyms. On the basis of priority, Staphylococcus epidermidis is the correct name of this species.
