The state and perspective of the natural gas sector in Serbia

Dejan Ivezić; Marija Živković; Dusan Danilovic; Aleksandar Madžarević; Miloš Tanasijević

ABSTRACT The strategy of long-term energy development of Serbia identifies an increase of share of natural gas in final energy consumption as one of the main aims. Serbia has signed a strategic agreement with the Russian Federation on cooperation in the oil and gas sector, within which the project South Stream pipeline is planned to be realized. In addition, the Republic of Serbia has signed the Treaty that establishes the Energy Community and accepted the obligation to implement the Energy Community acquis. In the natural gas sector it is related to establishing a fully liberated national and regional natural gas market. Overview and analysis of the current state concerning indigenous production, infrastructure, and consumption structure are presented as the basis for projections of the possible Serbian natural gas sector development. Three possible scenarios for future natural gas consumption, considering different influential parameters, have been developed by the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP) software. Scenarios characterized by different levels and structures of consumption are analyzed in detail.

Analysis of multicriteria models application for selection of an optimal artificial lift method in oil production

Miroslav P. Crnogorac; Dusan Danilovic; Vesna Karović-Maričić; Branko Lekovic

In the world today for the exploitation of oil reservoirs by artificial lift methods are applied different types of deep pumps (piston, centrifugal, screw, hydraulic), water jet pumps and gas lift (continuous, intermittent and plunger). Maximum values of oil production achieved by these exploitation methods are significantly different. In order to select the optimal exploitation method of oil well, the multicriteria analysis models are used. In this paper is presented an analysis of the multicriteria models application known as VIKOR, TOPSIS, ELECTRE, AHP and PROMETHEE for selection of optimal exploitation method for typical oil well at Serbian exploration area. Ranking results of applicability of the deep piston pumps, hydraulic pumps, screw pumps, gas lift method and electric submersible centrifugal pumps, indicated that in the all above multicriteria models except in PROMETHEE, the optimal method of exploitation are deep piston pumps and gas lift.

An oilfield in Libya: A new model to enhance waste water disposal

Dusan Danilovic; Vesna Karovic Maricic; Nori Ea Elhaddad; Branko Lekovic

The water produced at the Amal oil field in Libya is directly stored for evaporation in in-ground-pits. As there are a large number of oil production wells, there is a risk of environmental pollution because of the waste water’s eventual penetration into subsoil and surface waterways. From a technical point of view, the existing system of reservoir water disposal into storage pits will not be adequate to meet the increasing water production. Besides, the discharge of produced water without previous treatment is ecologically unacceptable. In this paper, a modern concept of produced water preparation is proposed, and the method of its disposal defined, applying an integrated approach to solving this problem, including technological, economic and environmental aspects. Produced water preparation in an oil field in Libya was chosen for the proposed implementation of an option with the lowest operating costs (storage tanks and liquid hydrophobic filter tank).

Determination of Optimal Parameters of Distributive Gas Pipeline by Dynamic Programming Method

Dusan Danilovic; Vesna Karovic Maricic; Ivica Ristović

Abstract In this article we present a model for determination of optimal parameters of main distributive gas pipelines by dynamic programming (DP) methods. The basic characteristic of this gas pipeline system is that the transported gas quantities are variables. This article presents DP techniques for solving the problem of minimizing investment costs of gas pipeline building. The main objective of this program is to determine the optimal location of compressor station and the optimal diameter of gas pipeline under the constraint of pressure value achievement for all users. The proposed model develops an improved numerical searching technique with the purpose of finding the optimal solution quickly. Applications for this method for optimal parameter determination of gas pipelines and the results are exemplified by the design of a gas pipeline in Belgrade–Valjevo. The model presented will be applied in a feasibility study to define the optimal parameters of a future gas pipeline, South Stream, from the Russian Federation to central Europe.
