The spectral function of the reaction 40Ca(e, e′ p)39K was measured with special emphasis on the knockout of protons from the 1f7/2 and 2p3/2 orbits above the Fermi level. Particularly for the transition to the 3/2− state two-step processes were found to be not negliglible. The spectroscopic strength for the 1f and 2p knockout, integrated up to 10 MeV excitation energy, is much less than the missing strength in the 1d3/2 and 2s1/2 orbits, but it agrees with values expected from calculations involving ground-state correlations.

Abstract The two-body breakup of 3 He by 390 MeV electrons has been studied with good missing energy resolution for recoil momenta p R of 200 up to 500 MeV/ c . Both the 3 He(e,e′p) 2 H and 3 He(e,e′d) 1 H channel were employed to obtain the data. We discuss a possible excess of high momentum components in the framework of two theoretical treatments of the reaction that include the final state interaction and employ Faddeev bound-state wave functions. Within the context of these models no clear indication for such an excess in the two-body breakup channel can be assessed.

Abstract The proton-hole spectral function of 90 Zr has been measured up to 20 MeV excitation energy by means of the (e,e′p) coincidence reaction. The deduced spectroscopic factors and fragmentation of the 1f-hole states are compared with results from hadronic reactions and with mean-field theory.

Abstract The momentum distributions for the knock-out of 2p protons from 90 Zr leading to the 1 2 − ground state and the 3 2 − excited state at 1.507 MeV in 89 Y have been determined at two outgoing proton energies (70 and 100 MeV) in a high-resolution (e,e′p) experiment. Using elastic proton-nucleus scattering data as a constraint, a proper description of the (e,e′p) data is obtained if the optical potential used to calculate the final state interaction is more absorptive inside the nucleus at 100 MeV than at 70 MeV. The deduced strength and orbit radii are compared to theory and to the result of a (d, 3 He) experiment.

Abstract The spectral function for the reaction 12C(e,e′p) 11B leading to the 1 2 + state at 6.79 MeV in 11B has been measured. The excitation of this non-normal parity state indicates the presence of wave function components beyond the 1p shell. A shell-model calculation, performed in a large configuration space, yields a fair description of the shape of the momentum distribution.
