We report 2 cases of CD4 lymphocytopenia complicated by opportunistic infections in HIV-positive patients treated with interferon for chronic C-hepatitis. We believe that such therapy in these patients needs to take into consideration clinical status, CD4 lymphocytes count, HLA antigen, and risk/benefit ratio.

The authors report 19 cases of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) associated with AIDS. Considering incidence in AIDS patients, clinical features, visceralization of dermatropic zymodemes, VL has to be considered as an opportunistic infection in AIDS. Response to antimonial agents is poor.

Phase II pilot trial on the efficacy and tolerance of the combination 13-cis-retinoic acid plus interferon α 2a in AIDS-related Kaposis sarcoma. Using criterions described by known, neither complete nor partial response was achieved, but clinical and histological changes were noted. Tolerance of the combination was good.

Few data are available on risk factors for malignant complications following bone marrow transplantation (BMT), especially solid tumors, which incidence is probably underestimated. We report the first case of malignant histiocytofibroma following BMT for acute leukemia.

We report our observations of new HIV positive patients repartition in risk groups in 1992, compared with 1987. Heterosexual cases increased from 9 to 15,8 %. AIDS survey, because of modalities of declaration, conducts to a bias which underestimates the real number of heterosexual contamination cases.

The authors report a case of Kaposis sarcoma (KS) in a HIV-negative bisexual man while receiving androgen therapy; they dicuss the role of androgens in the development of KS, and explain the arguments in the litterature in favor fo a role of sex hormones in the pathogenesis of KS.

The authors report 3 cases of bronchial carcinoma in HIV-infected patients. The occurence in young subjects, and an abnormal severe course of the disease were noted and suggested the responsability of HIV in the development and the clinical expression of bronchial carcinoma in HIV patients.

The authors report the finding of Leishmania infantum in a bronchoalveolar lavage in AIDS. This localization has never been reported in the litterature and confirms the unusual expression of the disease in AIDS patients.

The authors evaluated the prevalence of anti-HCV and HBV serologic markers in 175 HIV-infected patients. The global prevalence of anti-HCV was 51.4 %. This was higher in intravenous drug users than homo or heterosexual people.
