Suzuki coupling reaction of 6-iodo- or 6,8-diiodospiropyran: synthesis of spiropyran analogs

Abstract 6-Iodospiropyrans and 6,8-diiodospiropyran were coupled with arylboronic acids in the presence of palladium acetate and sodium carbonate in DMF to give the corresponding spiropyrans in high yields.

One-Pot Reductive Amination of Acetals with Aromatic Amines Using Decaborane (B10H14) in Methanol

Abstract Aldehyde acetals and ketone ketals were reductively aminated in one pot with aromatic amines to give the corresponding amines in methanol or aqueous methanol in good to high yields. This direct method might be important because acetals and ketals are used as a popular protecting group for aldehyde and ketones. The advantage of our method is effective even in an aqueous solution and in the application to selective reaction.

Efficient and chemoselective cleavage of TBS ethers by a sub-stoichiometric amount of decaborane

TBS ethers of aliphatic alcohols in THF–MeOH (or methanol) were deprotected chemoselectively to the corresponding alcohols using a sub-stoichiometric amount of decaborane at rt under nitrogen in high yields.
