Steigende spezifische Motorleistungen und zunehmende Spitzendrucke fordern eine zielgerichtete Auslegung thermomechanisch hochbelasteter Bauteile. Neben der Ausnutzung des Werkstoffpotenzials mussen Masnahmen zur Verschiebung der Belastungsgrenzen erarbeitet werden, um auch fur hochstbelastete Zylinderkopfe weiterhin am Aluminium-Leichtbau festhalten zu konnen. Die Legierungszusammensetzung und angepassten Warmebehandlungsparameter spielen — wie die Optimierung des Giesprozesses selbst - eine wesentliche Rolle bei der Erzielung bestmoglicher Bauteileigenschaften. Dieser gemeinsame Beitrag der Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG und der Otto-von-Guericke-Universitat Magdeburg gibt einen Uberblick uber gegenwartig erkennbare Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen.

In modern companies, the use of large information systems is increasing, in order to support the phases of the product development process. The Institute of Production Technology and Quality Management and the Institute of Technical and Business Information Systems have worked together on an integration of software systems at various levels, in order to support the engineers at the development of products. The aim of this is the support and automation of the process of preparation of offers for castings with focus on modelling and execution of the identified processes. This article describes a process sequencial control, based on the PACO-Integration framework, which is explain ad using the example of the work scheduling in foundries and the submission of proposals of a dynamic reaction of the process control on varying conditions.

The higher specific power outputs and increasing peak pressures call for a specific layout of the components exposed to high thermodynamical loads. While making optimum use of the inherent potential of the materials, it is essential to also develop measures allowing the load limits to be extended in order to continue using light-weight aluminum for the construction of the most highly stressed cylinder heads. The quality of the component properties depends on the composition of the light alloys and the precise adaptation of the heat-treatment parameters on the one hand and on optimized casting processes on the other. This paper from the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and the Otto-von-Guericke-Universitat Magdeburg provides an overview of the present development trends and challenges in this particular area.

If car makers are to remain competitive, they must be able to market higher quality products in ever shorter periods at increasingly lower costs. The resulting demands that car manufacturers make of their components can be met best of all by products that are manufactured using high-pressure die casting. It is important, however, that prototypes of the cast parts are made available in a short time. The following article from the Institute of Production Technology and Quality Assurance at the University of Magdeburg discusses which methods are available for the rapid tooling of high-pressure die casting moulds and which possibilities result from this.

Damit ein Automobilhersteller wettbewerbsfahig bleibt, muss er qualitativ bessere Produkte in immer kurzerer Zeit zu immer geringeren Kosten auf den Markt zu bringen. Den daraus resultierenden Anforderungen, die die Automobilhersteller an ihre Bauteile stellen, werden Produkte, die nach dem Druckgieβverfahren hergestellt werden, am besten gerecht. Dabei ist es jedoch wichtig, dass in kurzer Zeit Prototypen der Gussbauteile zur Verfugung stehen. Im folgenden Beitrag, der am Institut fur Fertigungstechnik und Qualitatssicherung der Universitat Magdeburg erstellt wurde, wird aufgezeigt, welche Verfahren zum Rapid Tooling von Druckgieβformen zur Verfugung stehen und welche Moglichkeiten sich daraus ergeben.
