Industrial clusters or cooperation network is an interesting alternative in promoting the sustainable development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The fundamental characteristics for managing the performance of clusters are the identification of the stakeholders, definitions of common strategies and objectives, development of collaborative improvement actions, design of a performance management system, organization of a support infrastructure, and promotion of social capital. The concepts of a performance management system can be of great value in managing collective efficiency and performance improvement of the companies of the cluster. The purpose of this article is to describe a model for the performance measurement and management of a cluster. In order to develop this study, a field research was carried out in two industrial clusters: Ibitinga, a textile industry cluster and Jau, a Ladys footwear cluster. The results show the applicability of performance measurement systems for the performance management of a cluster. It also helps to integrate the objectives of performance establishing actions, evaluating results promoting cooperation to improve the collective efficiency of a cluster.

Manufatura Enxut. Melhoria de Processo. ABSTRACT The Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a lean tool that guides the decision making of companies allowing the possibility to identify loss throughout the value stream and the production process. This study used an action search in order to highlight the importance of value stream map used as a mechanism for improving the operational process, which allows the identification and analysis of problems in the value stream, and direct the use of lean tools through Kaizen events to improve the individual processes and support future state. The analysis of processes aimed at reducing the production lead-time and inventory reduction through the implementation of a coordination of pulled production system, flatness of mix and volume of production and continuous flow. As a result, it can be verified that the value stream map is extremely effective in reducing lead-time and stock. Keywords: Value Stream Mapping. Lean Manufacturing. Process Improvement.

The appropriate use of organizational performance information influences anorganization´s results and capabilities. In the literature, there are four dimensions to the use of the performance measurement system (PMS) such as monitoring, attention focus, strategic decision-making, and legitimacy. Although the use of PMS is frequent in private enterprises, few studies have been concerned with analyzing the reasons and adequacies of PMS in credit cooperatives (CC). Thus, the paper’s main goal is to analyze the ways in which PMS is used and their respective objectives in CC. In field research, we investigate three cooperatives representing the largest organizations in Brazil. By means of a bibliometric study and qualitative inquiry with multiple companies (multiple cases), we interviewed their executives. The bibliometric study provided subsidies to propose a classification of PMS, as well as an analysis of similarities and divergences between the classifications presented in the literature. In the qualitative inquiry, four dimensions of PMS were observed and confirmed in the CC´s management. In addition, based on the interviews with the executives, two new dimensions of the PMS were proposed, such as Incentives, Rewards, and Human Valorization.

In the current dynamic and competitive environment, continuous improvement has become a basic management requirement aiming to increase performance of firms and local productive arrangements. The objective of this study is to present guidelines for collective development of continuous improvement in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises that operate in this type of arrangement. The proposal was formulated based on the theoretical concept and validated by a case study. The guidelines are composed of six main stages: Preparation, Array Diagnosis, Company Diagnostics, Implementation, Audit, and Evaluation.
