Cassava has been cultivated in almost the all region of Indonesia as a raw material of food, feed, and industries.xa0 The productivity of cassava was varied among the region due to the variation of varieties used and growth environment, especially rainfall or water availability. Water deficit or drought stress will decrease the growth and yield of cassava.xa0 Selecting tolerant variety to drought will be important to get high productivity. An experimental pot in the greenhouse has been conducted to know the growth and yield response to drought. Three varieties of cassava i.e Adira-1, Gajah, and Mangu were planted in the pot at three level of soil moisture content (SMC) 40-60, 60-80, and 80-100% of field capacity (FC). The cassava growth traits were influenced by SMC starting at 6 weeks after planting (WAP) for a number of leaves, at 8 WAP for stem girth, at 10 WAP for plant height, at 14 WAP for lobus width, and 15 WAPxa0 for lobus length.xa0 Root, stem, and leaves dry weight in the SMC of 40-60% FC were 64.4; 43.98, and 31.19% of the dry weight in 80-00% FC. Roots yield in the soil moisture content of 40-60% FC decreased by 76.2% and in the SMC of 40-60%, FC decreased by 38.4% compared to in the SMC of 80-100% FC. The water use efficiency and roots yield of Gajah variety were highest.

The objective of this research was to study the effect of irrigation schedule on consumptive water use and yield of patchouli. xa0The irrigation schedule treatment was combination between irrigation level and growth phase.xa0 Irrigation levels included irrigation until field capacity were applied every day (100% Available Water/AW 1 ), 3 days (100% AW 3 ), 6 days (100% AW 6 ), 9 days (100% AW 9 ), irrigation until 75% of available water every day (75% AW 1 ), 50% of available water every day (50% AW 1 ) and 25% of xa0available water every day (25% AW 1 ).xa0 The growth phase was described into whole growth phase, 2 weeks before harvest and 4 weeks before harvest. Results showed that consumptive water-use ranged from 129.18 cm/4 months to 47.58 cm/4 months that was equivalent to 63379 l water in pot with 25 cm diameter (100% AW 3 applied at 4 weeks before harvest) to 23344 l water in pot with 25 cm diameter (25% AW 1 applied during whole growth phase), respectively.xa0 High water use efficiency was yielded by irrigation level of 50% AW 1 or 100% AW 6 . xa0High productivity was reached by irrigation level of 50% AW 1 or 100% AW 3 . Key words: xa0Irrigation schedule, water use efficiency, available water, Pogostemon cablin

Artificial shading experiment was conducted to test upland rice lines yield potential and study agronomic character correlated with high yield. A factorial experiment was arranged in split plot design with three replications. The main plot were three levels of shading: 0%, 25% and 50%. The sub-plot were 18 upland rice lines. Dry grain weight was affected by interaction between shading and lines. High yield was resulted by B8503E-TB-19B-3-4, .S3605F-PN-201, IGM440, and 2GM440. Agronomic characters correlated with high yield potential at low light intensity were high plant, high leaf area, low tiller number, high shoot and root dry weight, high grain density and low unfilled grain percentage. Key words: Agronomic character, Grain density, Root weight, Low light intensity.
