A short report regarding the physicochemical properties of surface water quality in Karaçomak stream, Turkey

Within the scope of present study, the water quality of stream Karacomak in Kastamonu-Turkey was investigated. Water samples were collected from 9 stations selected on Karacomak stream, considering the pollution points and the points, where the entrance of water into stream is high. The samples taken were analyzed in terms of water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, saltiness, electrical conductivity, chemical composition and heavy metal content, and for their genotoxic and cytotoxic potential. Physicochemical evaluation indicated that all samples had heterogeneous intensity of environmental influence, but the considerable impact was noticed for the third and seventh stations. The present study highlights the need for continuous evaluation of water pollution level, and is intended to help in mitigating the environmental impacts and improve environmental performance.

Evaluation of Some Physico-Chemical Characteristics of Kemeriz Dam (Zara – Sivas)

Abstract The objectives of this study were to observe the monthly and annual changes in water samples through physico-chemical methods, to determine the water quality properties, to reveal the pollution problems, to determine the suitability level in terms of aquatic life, and to classify the quality of water in accordance with the Surface Water Quality Regulation (SWQR) criteria. This study was carried out through monthly sampling during January 2011-December 2013 in 3 stations at Kemeriz Dam. The water quality in Kemeriz dam was found to be Class I according to the SWQR. In order to protect the water quality and to ensure the health of aquatic life in this dam, it is required to make regular observations and to monitor the parameters affecting the water quality and aquatic life. Bu calisma Ocak 2011 ile Aralik 2013 arasinda aylik olarak Kemeriz Baraj Golu uzerinde 3 istasyondan alinan su ornekleri ile gerceklestirilmistir. Kemeriz Baraj Golunun su kalitesi YSKY kriterlerine gore 1. Sinif olarak bulunmustur. Su kalitesini korumak ve sucul hayatin saglikli devamliligi icin duzenli gozlemler yapmak ve su kalitesi ve sucul hayati etkileyecek parametreleri takip etmek gerekmektedir. Yayladağı Görentaş Göleti (Hatay) Su Kalitesi Parametreleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma / A Study On Water Quality Parameters Of Yayladağı Görentaş Lake (Hatay)

OZET : Hatay’in Yayladagi ilcesinde bulunan Gorentas Goleti’nin su kalitesi ozelliklerini belirlemek amaciyla gerceklestirilen bu calismaya Nisan 2003 tarihinde baslanilmistir. Calisma 12 ay boyunca yurutulmus olup, su ornekleri aylik olarak iki istasyondan toplanmistir. Birinci istasyon goletin kuzey kisminda Goren koyu yakininda, digeri ise goletin guney kisminda Suriye sinirindadir. Su kalitesi parametrelerinden; cozunmus oksijen, pH, sicaklik, tuzluluk, kimyasal oksijen ihtiyaci (KOI), toplam alkalinite, toplam sertlik, amonyak azotu, nitrit, nitrat, fosfat, sulfit, sulfat, klor, potasyum, sodyum ve silis analizleri yapilmistir. Yapilan calisma sonucunda Gorentas Goletinin su kalitesi parametrelerinin aylara ve istasyonlara gore degisimleri belirlenmistir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Su Kalitesi, Gol, Gorentas, Yayladagi, Hatay A Study On Water Quality Parameters Of Yayladagi Gorentas Lake (Hatay) ABSTRACT : This study, purposing to determine water quality characteristics of Gorentas Lake, located in Yayladagi town of Hatay, were begun on April 2003. The study was carried out 12 months and water samples were taken monthly from two stations. First station was on the north side of the lake, nearby Goren village and the other was on south side, Syria board. Water quality parameters of dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, salinity, chemical oxygen demand (COD), total alkalinity and hardness, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, sulphite, sulphate, chloride, potassium, sodium and silica analyses were done.
