The study of corresponding levels of analysis in the parent-infant/child interaction may lead us to a common language and shared concepts, that in turn will hopefully aid in the prolific exchanges among researchers from various theoretical and methodological backgrounds. The authors of this article represent some of the most prominent research teams of Brazil engaged in the study of parent-infant/child interaction. Their various perspectives are presented, as are their points of agreement and disagreement, with the purpose of demonstrating both the complexity and the diversity of approaches to the parent-infant/child interactions and their role in development. Although there is no consensual definition of interaction, there is a tendency of the authors to consider the question of reciprocal actions, co-construction, and bidirectionality. Granting that there is a trend to focus on manifested behavior and interaction, there is also a clear awareness that implicit transactions and social representations must be studied through rigorous methodological procedures, insofar as they influence interactions. It is hoped that, as these discussions progress, the ideas proposed herein will be both improved and better disseminated.

Ana Maria de Barros Aguirre; Eliana Herzberg; Elizabeth Batista Pinto; Elisabeth Becker; Helena Moreira e Silva Carmo; Mary Dolores Ewerton Santiago

In this paper, we highlight aspects we consider fundamental in the clinical teaching/learning process, according to our experience as supervisors of psychological assessment (we point out that in Brazil this clinical practice takes place during undergraduate studies). After presenting our outline of work, which follows a psychoanalytical approach, we focus particularly on the students development of a clinical attitude toward the patient. We show its connections with the establishment of the clinical setting and the process of acquiring a professional identity. The ultimate role of the supervision, in these aspects, is also emphasised. Further research, as well as discussions among supervisors and psychologists, are necessary, regarding issues like the process of clinical teaching/learning and also the licensing of psychologists.

Os sintomas psicofuncionais e as consultas terapêuticas pais/bebê

Elizabeth Batista Pinto

Baby’s psychofunctional symptoms and parents/baby therapeutic consultations . Baby’s psychofunctional symptoms are related to the quality of primary attachment, especially with the mother. Several studies and researches in this field have early diagnosis and intervention as their main objective. Theoretical concepts as psychic mutuality and transgenerational mandate have showed the influence of parental representation and specially their phantasmatic aspects in the child psychological organization. This article discusses the relationship between the presence of psychofunctional symptoms in the baby and the parents/baby patterns of interaction analyzing 3 axes: behavioral, affective and phantasmatic, as well as their patterns of attachment. Finally, to illustrate, we describe the case of a baby with eating difficulties.

A pesquisa qualitativa em Psicologia Clínica

Elizabeth Batista Pinto

This article discusses the scientific research qualitative methodology in clinical psychology, considering science as a human subjectivity construct, and searching to understand its particularities. This methodology implies a dynamic process of investigation in a certain theoretical system. So, the qualitative research is always considered a research-action because the action is investigated and interpreted as it is being performed, modifying its own process

O Desenvolvimento do Comportamento do Bebê Prematuro no Primeiro Ano de Vida

Elizabeth Batista Pinto

This article presents a research about the behavior development of 21 preterm babies (between 33 and 36 weeks of pregnancy), from 1 to 12 months old, at the Hospital of the University of Sao Paulo, in Brazil, using the Child Behavior Development Scale - CBDS. The results showed that the preterm infants had an important improvement in the behavior development rhythm after the 3rd month of age, reducing in a statistically significant way the behaviors with pathological signs, but maintaining risk factors in 23% of non-normalized behaviors at 12 months of age. This study provides elements that can help the follow-up of the behavior development process of these children and the early detection of delays or possible disorders in that process.
