Major issues currently impeding clinical pastoral education.

My views have been determined by many factors: my long, continuous experience as a teacher and training supervisor in clinical pastoral education within one institution; an intimate knowledge of the field gained through some 20 years of experience at executive committee levels with the Council for Clinical Training and through editorship of the Journal of Pas toral Care; academic involvement with clinical pastoral education concerns at four seminaries since 1942; visits to centers and theological schools inter ested in the subject in the United Kingdom, Europe, and other parts of the world; chairmanship of three national conferences of executive committees of the Advisory Committee on Clinical Pastoral Education; and the urging of fellow-supervisors who have by no means been identified with my way of thinking.
