This research aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity of 103 protein fractions obtained from the extra cellular product (ECP) and four different fractions from the cellular component (whole cell product, heat-killed whole cell product, intra-cellular product and crude extra cellular product) of Pseudomonas sp. against Aeromonas hydrophila pathogen on tilapia fish. Antibacterial activities were measured by the zone of inhibition in a sensitivity test against A. hydrophila. Intra-cellular product, whole cell product, and heat-killed whole cell product of Pseudomonas sp. exhibited inhibition zone of 10 mm and crude of fraction ECP showed inhibition zone of 11 mm. All protein fractions of ECP displayed potential activity against A. hydrophila in Nila tilapia. 73.8% protein fractions had resistant inhibition and 20.4% possessed intermediate inhibition. 5.8% fractions caused sensitive inhibition. Our results showed that protein fractions of ECP were found to be the most effective to inhibit A. hydrophila gr...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial activity of ethanol concoction (mixed extract) of three herbs plants, such as: Boesenbergia pandurata, Solanum ferox and Zingimber zerumbet against Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas sp. and both bacteria. The Plant extracts were obtained by using ethanol and the concentration of the extract was 600 mgL of B. pandurata, 900 mgL of S. ferox and 200 mgL of Z. zerumbet. The inhibition zone was measured after 6, 12, 18, 24 h incubation at 30 C. The ratios of concoction S. ferox and B. pandurata (for 100 mL solution) were 90:10; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40; 50:50; 40:60; 30:70; 20:80; 10:90. The same ratios were made on the concoction of S. ferox and Z. zerumbet. The concoctions of S. ferox and B. pandurata in the ratio of 50:50 and 60:40, and the concoction of S. ferox and Z. zerumbet with ratio 60:40 had higher antibacterial activity against A. hydrophila single isolate compared to the other concoctions. Furthermore, the concoction extract of S. ferox and B. pandurate 50:50 and the combined of S. ferox and Z. zerumbet ratio 50:50 and 90:10 were the best combination to inhibit the growth of a single bacterium Pseudomonas sp. The combined S. ferox and B. pandurata ratio 50:50; 10:90 and S. ferox mixed with Z. zerumbet ratio 50:50 and 40:60 were the best combination against the combined bacteria between A. hydrophila and Pseudomonas sp. The conclusion of this research was the combined extract of S. ferox and B. pandurata and S. ferox with Z. zerumbet are effective to suppress the growth of single or combination of A. hydropila and Pseudomonas sp.

This research aimed to investigate the extract of the leaves and rhizomes Alpinia galanga as a potential compound and also to find the optimal concentration for improving egg hatchability and larval viability of catfish. Dried leaves and rhizomes of A. galanga were macerated and extracted with water and ethanol extracts. The extracts in concentration 600, 800 and 1,000 ppm were tested on the egg hatchability of catfish with immersion method, and challenge test with Aeromonas hydrophyla, Pseudomonas sp., and Saprolegnia spp. Next, the concentration of 800, and 1,000 ppm were tested on the larvae of catfish with immersion method and followed by challenge test with several pathogens. The result showed that water or ethanol extracts of A. galanga can improve egg hatchability with a value of 62.3±1.4 to 97.7±1.0 %, and larval viability of catfish of 69.4±1.0 to 90.7±2.2%. Eight hundred ppm ethanol extract of A. galanga rhizome has the best egg hatchability, and 1,000 ppm can improve the larval viability of cat...
