Event detection in composite context aware-service

Woongsoo Na; Sungrae Cho; Eungha Kim; Young-Il Choi

Recent computing paradigm will advance in a form of more user-centric services spurred by smart phone where smart phone users enjoy a large variety of contextual information. Under the context-aware domain, contexts are forming more complicated and thus the concept of composite context has been proposed. While providing a useable context to users is important, it is also essential to reserve such a composite context even if it is not available. Once the context is available to user, there should be a methodology maintained to alarm the user of its existence. In this paper, we propose new event detection architecture for new composite system. In the later part of the paper, we provide two case studies using the proposed event detection architecture: video streaming service and office automation service.

Complex context information for video streaming service

Gunwoo Lee; Woongsoo Na; Sungrae Cho; Eungha Kim

Advances in computer networking combined with powerful home computers and modern operating systems made streaming media practical and affordable for ordinary consumers. We are enjoying different streaming services such as DMB, PMP, smart phone, etc. that have never experienced before. In the future computing environment such as ubiquitous environment, user can be served video streaming service by complex contexts. In the paper, we suggest and simulate the complex context information for multimedia streaming. In this paper, we applied complex context awareness concept to video streaming service and demonstrate our applications.

Trustworthy gateway system providing IoT trust domain of smart home

Eungha Kim; Changsup Keum

Present IoT trust method for smart home installs security technologies and security equipment directly into each thing. But this method is practically difficult to install security technologies and security equipment on the things with limited processing power. Thus, the trust method for IoT is necessary to support the trust domain for things that constitute the IoT rather than installing security technology and security equipment for each thing. Therefore, this paper proposes a trustworthy gateway system architecture that constructs an IoT trust domain which can protect the IoT safely from the malicious attack.

Smart city service platform associated with smart home

Eungha Kim

This paper proposes an intelligent smart city service platform architecture that can provide an intelligent smart city services associated with the smart city and the smart home. Also, this paper shows the control flow of the smart city service platform providing the mechanism to perform one associated process made by person, thing, context and service for supporting the intelligent smart city service such as energy, water, public safety and public health. And this smart city service platform will contribute to compose a new smart city service ecosystem and to create a new smart service business model such as energy, water, public safety and public health.

Integrated community service platform system linked to smart home and smart city

Eungha Kim; Changsup Keum

Present thing internet services provided in the smart home is performed by passive methods that people make a direct command for certain thing devices. Also, the present circumstance of thing internet service do not provide the infrastructure to offer public community services for the smart city associated with the smart home because most of the thing internet services have a private purpose orientation. Therefore, this paper proposes an integrated community service platform system architecture that can provide a single integrated and intelligent community services linked with the smart city and the smart home.

A study on movable thing edge service platform

Eungha Kim; Changsup Keum

This paper proposes a movable thing edge service platform architecture that can provide the best suitable thing services to users in the space such as house, car and office. Also, this paper shows the control flow of the thing edge service platform handling one associated process which is made by using persons, things, situations and services related in accordance with the changing context of things. And this thing edge service platform will play the role as the base technology of user-centric smart service in the space such as house, car and office.

User-centric thing environment service platform

Eungha Kim; Changsup Keum

Present IoT services have been suggested as a specific thing-oriented service and they do not provide suitable IoT services on the space that ordinary users are living. Therefore, this paper proposes the user-centric thing environment service platform architecture that can provide the best appropriate services in the space which the user locates such as house, car and office. The user-centric thing environment service platform performs one associated process which is made by using persons, things, situations and services associated in accordance with the changing context of things.

Composite context aware service platform for user-centric service.

Eungha Kim; Young-Il Choi; Changseob Keum

The user-centric context aware service using the composite context information can provide more practical and proper service to users. We try to apply the user-centric context aware service to the smart home environment. However, the existing context aware service platform is not suitable to supply the smart home service properly using the composite context information. So, this paper proposes the architecture of a composite context aware service platform for smart home service. Ultimately, our service platform performs a role of user-centric service infra using the composite context information.

Ontology Usability Assessment Model for Context Information Process

Sukyoung Kim; Eungha Kim; Young-Il Choi

The existing context-aware system just can decide the simple state, so that can’t satisfied with the needs of person. For supplying the more complex and high service to context-aware environment progress many research about ontology mechanism in order to represent the context information. Because ontology implies that knowledge to determine the specific situation and it takes a lot of time on the reasoning, performance of inference and accurate representation of ontology. Therefore ontology usability assessment is important to ensure the context information process for context-aware system. So, this study present the model that assess the usability of ontology and suggest the ontology building method to context-aware service which is combine an usability assessment model with the previous ontology building method. So, we find a way to increase the ontology usability in various applications.

Composite Context Information Model for Adaptive Human Computing

Sukyoung Kim; Eungha Kim; Young-Il Choi

This study is to propose the composite context information model that provides an appropriate model depending on the situation around user. In our research, describe the definition of composite context information, propose the reuse method of the preexisted context information and design the composite context information process structure to improve performance. For developing the user-centric context-aware computing, above all important thing is, provide the high-level concept like human beings in knowledge framework and many application layers use it, don’t care the inner structure for processing complex context information.
