Photosynthetic Active Pigments Changes in Norway Spruce (Picea abies) under the Different Acclimation Irradiation and Elevated CO2 Content

Miroslav Kvíčala; Eva Lacková; Lenka Urbancová

Photosynthetic active pigments content (chlorophylls and carotenoids) in Norway spruce (Picea abies) needles was measured by absorption spectroscopy. Norway spruce was exposed to low and high photosynthetic active radiation and ambient and elevated CO2 concentration. It was investigated that combination of low photosynthetic active radiation and elevated concentration of CO2 resulted in stimulation of chlorophylls and carotenoids production. Combination of high photosynthetic active radiation and elevated CO2 concentration led to overall chlorophylls and carotenoids content decrease. Moreover, specific leaf area trend could be used as a potentially reliable indicator of plant stress response.

Internal Reflectance Modelling of Hordeum vulgare Leaves During Drying

Miroslav Kvíčala; Eva Lacková; Michaela Štamborská

Spectral reflectance, or indexes that characterize spectral reflectance at concrete wavelength, is commonly used as an indicator of plant stress, or its photosynthetic apparatus status. In this paper, new leaf optical model is presented. Within this paper, experimental determination of surface and internal reflectance of Spring barley leaves and mathematical-physical modelling of internal reflectance were performed. It was proven that a new proposed theoretical model and the experimental spectra of internal reflectance are strongly correlated. It can be concluded that the total reflectance is not a function of epidermis condition, but it testifies about overall functional condition of Spring barley leaves.

ACIDIFICATION PROCESS IN THE AREA OF THE ABANDONED ĽUBIETOVÁ - PODLIPA CU-DEPOSIT, SLOVAKIA PROCES ACIDIFIKÁCIE V OBLASTI OPUSTENÉHO CU-LOŽISKA ĽUBIETOVÁ - PODLIPA, SLOVENSKO

Abstract Acidity in surroundings of the abandoned Ľubietová-Podlipa Cu-deposit depends predominantly on the geochemical behaviour (weathering) of particular minerals (mainly pyrite). The article presents the results of measurements of basic physicochemical parameters - pH and Eh in technogenic sediments and in surface and drainage water of a dump-field. Although the dump material shows a significant amount of mobility-able metals and thus also a potential to form acidity, a massive AMD formation in future is not probable. Abstrakt Acidita v okolí opusteného Cu-ložiska Ľubietová - Podlipa závisí predovšetkým od geochemického správania sa (zvetrávania) niektorých minerálov (hlavne pyritu). V článku sú prezentované výsledky meraní základných fyzikálno-chemických parametrov - pH a Eh v technogénnych sedimentoch a v povrchovej a drenážnej vode haldového poľa. Haldový materiál síce stále vykazuje značné množstvo mobilizovateľných kovov a teda aj istý potenciál tvoriť kyslosť, podľa výsledkov výpočtu rizika, k masívnejšej tvorbe AMD nebude v budúcnosti pravdepodobne dochádzať.

EVALUATION OF EXTERNALITIES IN THE LONG-TIME INFLUENCED MINING AREA IN ORLOVÁ - PORUBA OCEŇOVÁNÍ EXTERNALIT V ÚZEMÍ DLOUHODOBĚ OVLIVNĚNÉM DOBÝVÁNÍM UHLÍ V LOKALITĚ ORLOVÁ - PORUBA

Abstract The article analyses the basic issues of procedural methods for evaluating the environment affected by the exploitation of mineral resources. The paper deals with the area, which was affected by black coal extraction already in the last century and is located in the area of Orlová-Poruba. Tthe first part explicates the basic concepts of landscape restoration issues, views of the methods of assessment and evaluation of the environment and related negative and positive externalities incurred. Another part of this paper assesses the affected area using the so-called Hessian method. Finally, we assess possible solutions of the evaluation of mostly positive externalities ocurred under the conditions in the Czech Republic and the desirability of the proposed new methodology for environmental assessment, including possible solutions. V první části rozebíráme základní pojmy problematiky obnovy krajiny, pohledy na metody hodnocení a oceňování ţivotního prostředí a s tímto souvisejícími vzniklými negativními a pozitivními externalitami. Další část tohoto příspěvku hodnotí postiţené území s vyuţitím tzv. Hessenské metody. V závěru hodnotíme moţnosti řešení ocenění převáţně vzniklých pozitivních externalit v podmínkách ČR a vhodností nově navrhované metodiky hodnocení ţivotního prostředí, včetně moţných východisek.
