Bacteriostatic heterocycles from Euodia lunu-ankenda☆

Abstract A new constituent characterized as 8-acetyl-3,4-dihydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2,2-dimethylchroman has been isolated together with alloevodionol-7-methyl ether, 4-methoxy-1-methyl-2(1H)quinolinone, evolitrine, isoevodionol and its methyl ether from the aerial parts of Euodia lunu-ankenda. Its structure was confirmed by its transformation to alloevodionol-7-methyl ether. 4-Methoxy-1-methyl-2(1H)quinolinone and its isomer were synthesized by a modified procedure.

Abstract The synthesis and hepatoprotective activity of 6-aryl-3-substituted-4-methylthio-2H-pyran-2-ones ( 3, 5, 7 ) and the corresponding 2-thiones ( 6 ), 6-aryl-4-methylthio-2H-pyran-2-ones ( 4 ) and 6-aryl-3-carbethoxy-5-cyano-4-methylthio-2H-pyran-2-ones are described.

Abstract Auricularic acid, a spasmolytic diterpene, isolated from Pogostemon auricularis has been characterized as cleistanth-13,15-dien-18-oic acid ( 1 ) with the help of high resolution 2D 1H1H (COSY, NOESY) and 1H13C (Hetero-COSY) n.m.r. studies.

Structure and Configuration of a New Cleistanthane Diterpenoid from Pogostemon auricularis

Abstract A new diterpene acid isolated from Pogostemon auricularis has been characterized as (4R, 5S, 8R, 9S, 10S, 14R)-cleistanth-12, 15-dien-19-oic acid by spectral and X-ray crystallographic analyses. Further, the stereochemistry at C-4 of auricularic acid (7) and its 7-hydroxy (6), 7-acetoxy (5), 7-senecioxy (4) and 7-(3-methylbutyroxy) (3) derivatives has been revised.
