Aneurysms of the internal carotid artery high in the neck challcnge the judgment and ingenuity of the vascular surgeon. The ideal treatment of aneurysms is resection and restoration of arterial continuity. However, cases are encountered in which the distal artery may be difficulty to control by clamps and impossible to anastomose.3 ~ 4 , 8,9,10 Therefore the vascular surgeon should be familiar with all the techniques of reconstruction as well as methods of ligation. This paper reports a new internal shunt which prevented back bleeding from the Circle of Willis, and which conducted flow to the brain during repair of an internal carotid aneurysm which extended up to the base of the skull. The aneurysm was repaired and a normal channel reconstructed by the technique invented by Matas in 1903 and used for popliteal aneurysms in the early years, the &dquo;endoaneurysmorrhaphy&dquo;. Carotid aneurysms are a rare lesion, comprising less than 10 % of all peripheral aneurysms, and the internal carotid is less commonly involved than the common carotid or external.

I . Methods are Presented for nieasuring five enzymes in 1 to 5 y frozen-dried samples of mouse mammiuar duct, fat or conmiective tissue. 2. Effects of incubation temperature, pH, and substrate and pyridine nucleotide concentrations (Ofl activity of the five mammary enzymes are reported. 3. Lactic, mahic and isocitric dehiydrogenases are stable for at least 49 days in mouse mamniary gland wheni stored frozen and dcied at -20#{176}C. Aldolase amid fumarase activities dechine after 21 days. 4. Activities of these five enzymes amid of glucose-6-phosphate dehuydrogenase do not significantly change from estrus to diestrus in mouse

Seven cases of quadrilateral chronic occlusive arterial disease different from other known chronic occlusive arterial diseases as evidenced by arteriography, pathology, and clinical manifestations are reported. They resemble some of the cases originally described by Buerger.

Phuosl)hate dehydrogenase activity in frozen and dried sections of mouse mammary gland duct. The methods (2, 7) have been modified to give optimum activity. Characteristics of the enzyme in homogenates are reported. Striking changes imi activity of the enzyme occur in various hormomual states of the niouse. lnhuihition of the enzyme by certain C17 and C20 ketosteroids is reported. Activity of this enzyme in breast hiomogenates has beemi previously reporte(1 to increase markedly durimig lactation (9). Activity of homogenates of breast cancer of the rat decreases after ovariectomv (10). Inhibitiomi in various other tissues of the rat amid humnan by pregnenobone and other C7 amid Czo ketosteroids is reported by Marks
