Autonomous emergency braking

To what extent may a driver react according to their intentions during autonomous emergency braking? Is it possible to draw reliable conclusions from the driver’s behavior on the intention? Studies of Robert Bosch GmbH on driver behavior during different autonomous emergency brake interventions, which vary with respect to the elicited driver intent — brake versus overrule the emergency brake — demonstrate that the driver intent strongly affects driver behavior during autonomous emergency braking. Combining multiple indicators of driver behavior, the driver intent may be detected at a very early stage.

Autonome Motorbremsmanoever. Studien zum Fahrerverhalten

Es werden Studien vorgestellt, die das Fahrerverhalten waehrend autonomer Notbremsungen in Abhaengigkeit von der Fahrerabsicht - Verstaerkung oder Ueberstimmung - untersuchen. Es wurde ermittelt, inwiefern Verstaerkungs- und Ueberstimmungsabsichten am Fahrerverhalten fruehzeitig und sicher erkannt werden koennen; wie sich zeitgleiche beziehungsweise vorherige Fahrerwarnungen auf die Fahrerabsichtserkennung auswirken und wie die Ueberstimmbarkeit autonomer Notbremsungen aus Sicht der Probanden zu loesen ist. Dazu wurden verschiedene Fahrversuche auf der Teststrecke mit begleitenden Befragungen durchgefuehrt. Es zeigte sich, dass die Fahrerabsicht auch waehrend autonomer Notbremsungen einen wesentlichen Einfluss auf das Fahrerverhalten hat. Durch Kombination verschiedener Verhaltensindikatoren kann die Fahrerabsicht fruehzeitig erkannt werden. Ergaenzende Befragungsergebnisse zeigten zudem, dass Ueberstimmbarkeit, insbesondere ueber Gaspedalbetaetigung, erwartet wird.
