The goal of this study is to investigate the relationship between the Board Interlocking practices and business characteristics of family ownership structure which have more stocks traded in BM&FBovespa. Study descriptive being conducted through desk research, with a quantitative approach. The information was collected from the financial reports of 23 Brazilian open capital companies of family ownership structure, classified by the Open Capital Magazine. The results show that the Board Interlocking practice occurred in 57% of the companies in the sample, indicating that it is a common practice. Show also a significant relationship between the variables Board Interlocking practices and characteristics of family ownership structure and control, with a canonical correlation of 83% and a canonical R of 69%. It is concluded that the Interlocking Board practices by members of the board of directors, directors and supervisory board is adopted in the surveyed companies, despite the tendency of family ownership structure be more concentrated.

O estudo objetiva verificar a relacao entre as praticas do Board Interlocking e caracteristicas de empresas de estrutura de propriedade familiar com acoes mais negociadas na BM&FBovespa. Estudo descritivo foi realizado por meio de pesquisa documental, com abordagem quantitativa. Coletaram-se informacoes nos relatorios financeiros das 23 empresas brasileiras de capital aberto com estrutura e propriedade familiar, classificadas pela Revista Capital Aberto. Os resultados apontam que a pratica do Board Interlocking ocorreu em 57% das empresas da amostra, indicando ser uma pratica comum. Evidenciam tambem uma relacao significativa entre as variaveis pratica do Board Interlocking e caracteristicas de propriedade e controle familiar. Conclui-se que a pratica do Board Interlocking pelos membros do conselho de administracao, diretoria e conselho fiscal e adotada nas empresas pesquisadas, apesar da tendencia da estrutura de propriedade familiar ser mais concentrada. The Board of Directors is an important instrument of corporate governance where standout practices that mitigate the conflict of interest between shareholders and managers ofcompanies, so that it can influence the performance of organizations. In this way we soughtfrom the techniques of rough sets and discriminant analysis, to identify the characteristicsof the board who value the performance of family firms listed on the BM & FBovespa.Was delimited study sample of 130 companies with characteristics of family ownership.The tools used for data mining techniques were the Rough Sets Theory and DiscriminantAnalysis. The results indicated that the main practices of the board with the greatestpositive influence on performance, are the total number of board members and the numbersubstitute of board. In turn, the technique of discriminant analysis highlighted only thevariable of the number substitute of board as significant for prediction with a hitpercentage of approximately 34%. By TCA all variables were confirmed, however thepercentage of information quality was 30% which can be considered low.

O objetivo do estudo visa identificar o ranking do Indice Brasil de Inovacao das atividades industriais e extrativas, exploradas na regiao sul do Brasil. O delineamento desta pesquisa caracteriza-se como um estudo de carater descritivo, com procedimento de pesquisa documental, e uma abordagem quantitativa do problema. Inicialmente foram coletados os dados disponiveis no sitio eletronico do PINTEC relativos as inovacoes tecnologicas dos anos de 2000, 2003, 2005 e 2008, e calculados o Indice Brasil de Inovacao – IBI, dos estados localizados no sul do Brasil. Em uma analise posterior, efetuado um ranking denominado AHP, para identificar a atividade industrial e extrativa relativas aos tres estados, que mais se destacou. Os resultados informam pela analise descritiva que o maior IBI caracterizou-se para os estados do Rio Grande do Sul, Parana e Santa Catarina respectivamente, ja em relacao os destaques entre as atividades industriais, em ordem sequencial apresenta a fabricacao de maquinas e equipamentos, a atividade de fabricacao de produtos alimenticios e outras atividades. Por meio do metodo de ranqueamento AHP, verificou-se que as mais inovativas atividades classificam-se respectivamente pela fabricacao de produtos alimenticios, seguido da atividade de fabricacao de maquinas e equipamentos e outras atividades, refletindo a caracteristicas economicas e de inovacao da regiao sul do pais.
