Female Education: The Long Way to Equal Rights for Girls in Schools.

Girls are the obvious winners of the German school system: there are more girls than boys of the same age attending grammar school and intermediate school, that is, the “superior” schools. On the other hand, “inferior” schools such as comprehensive schools, secondary modern, and special schools are attended by more boys than girls in the same age category. The number of girls getting their A-levels [Abitur] exceeds the number of boys. Moreover, since 1995 the number of girls taking up academic studies has become as high as or even slightly higher than that of boys. Additionally, girls’ average grades are usually higher than those of boys. In view of this data it might seem inappropriate to open a discussion about equal rights for girls in schools. However, the situation has not always been as it is today. Besides, numbers and quotas entail only half-truths. Pädagogische und diskursive Traditionsbezüge sowie innere Systematik der kritisch-konstruktiven Erziehungswissenschaft

Wolfgang Klafki (01.09.1927-24.08.2016) war einer der renommiertesten Erziehungswissenschaftler und Bildungsberater der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Sein Werk umfasst uber 430 wissenschaftliche Veroffentlichungen. Es wurde und wird bis heute weit uber Deutschland und Europa hinaus breit rezipiert (vgl. Meyer und Meyer 2017; Stubig und Kinsella 2008).

Kategoriale Bildung und Kompetenzorientierung

Um das in der Uberschrift aufgeworfene Problem bearbeiten zu konnen, wird zunachst grundsatzlich erlautert, was „kategoriale Bildung“ meint, bevor die gegenwartige Diskussion in den Blick genommen und die Anschlussfahigkeit der kategorialen Bildung an die aktuelle Kompetenzdebatte gepruft werden kann.

Es ist bekannt, dass alle Ubergange im deutschen Bildungssystem wichtige Schwellen darstellen, die als „Herausforderungen im Lebenslauf eines Menschen und [als] Gelenkstellen in der Bildungsbiografie“ (Heinzel 2009, 298) zuverstehen sind.
