The problem of current regulation for a multilevel DC-DC converter is discussed. The paper addresses PI control with an additional low-pass filtering and a high-frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM) in control loop. The problem of controller design is reduced to the continuous-time controller design based on the Filippovs average model of the multi-level DC-DC converter. The design methodology of PI controller via singular perturbation technique is presented where two-time-scale motions are artificially induced in the closed-loop system. The method of singular perturbations is used throughout the paper. Numerical simulations are included.

A special four-level three-phase diode clamped inverter fed by a correspondingly adapted untypical three-phase rectifier with two typical transformers is presented. The three-level rectifier is formed by consecutive connection of three rectifiers under the circuit of Scott for the bi-phase orthogonal voltage received from corresponding windings of two three-phase transformers. The inverter is realized by 4,5kV IGBT modules and provides a voltage of 6 kV (RMS) for a high power induction machine without transformer. The dependences of THD and integral values of THD of output voltage are simulated and shown for simple variants of three-carriers PWM and SVM.

A new transformerless AC voltage regulators with a sinusoidal input and output currents and ability of voltage increasing are considered. The regulators can be used as the soft-starting devices for asynchronous motors. Results of mathematical modeling and analytical calculation of RMS values by fundamentals of the currents and voltage are given.

The family of extended power quality factors exsamenes in this paper. These are integral and differential coefficients of harmonics of current and voltage. On the example of simulation of different types of loading for nonsinusoidal sources are considered a quality of consumable current without the calculation of current.

The new family of AC voltage regulators based on the switching quasi-impedance of power supply or load is offered. Such AC-AC converters are intended for construction of conditioners of voltage quality, regulators of a soft start of induction motors, compensators of a reactive power, active filters of harmonics, devices of balancing of three-phase circuits, compensators of voltage sags in electric power distribution systems. Results of mathematical modeling and analytical calculation of RMS values by fundamentals of the currents and voltage are given.

In this paper construction of a system with the stabilization of the current value of the variable voltage and frequency based on variable voltage regulator with voltage boost with PWM control is proposed. A mathematical model of the system is constructed. Basic energy relationships and dependencies of the system are analyzed.

Renewable Energy development of today has a tendency towards still increasing power ratings for grid-connected systems. Substitute energy plants in case of lacking renewable instantaneous power are not directly considered because of grid connection. Stand-alone applications require well defined concepts for continuous energy supply providing a good balance between various energy sources and their capabilities and load requirements. Stand alone supplies of small power ratings cover local demands, e.g. one house or a small village in remote location. Multiple inputs for renewable energy are proposed in combination with high-efficiency power electronics for optimum power input into a DC bar directly connected to a battery. All loads are connected to this floating battery voltage DC bar either directly or via additional converters.

The method of generation of circuits of multilevel rectifiers of a three-phase voltage is considered by the example of generation of circuits three-level multipulse rectifiers of three-phase orthogonal systems of the voltage created on the basis of standard three-phase transformers. Relative levels of average values, factors of pulsations of a output voltage, and also coil of a winding and diode numbers of twelve, twenty four pulse and forty eight pulse three-level three-phase rectifiers are compared.

Power electronic transformers (PET) based on ac voltage regulator with pulse-width regulation, in various areas of their application are discussed. A research of a power electronic transformer based on an ac voltage regulator operating at high frequency with ability to support unity power factor by means of mathematical modeling is conducted. The major power characteristics are obtained using the output factors of electric energy quality of the device. A universal single-phase experimental mock-up is presented.
