A study was conducted in the aim to identify whether and how knowledge sharing contributes, through instruments and behavioral aspects, to risk management. Initially, as the literature review was carried out, it was identified, on one hand, the main instruments and behavioral aspects that facilitate knowledge sharing and, on the other hand, the different approaches to risk management in software projects. Following that, the relationship between these two themes was established. Then, based on a case study in the software industry, an analysis was carried out and applied to the development teams, aiming at understanding and perceiving what risk management activities are practiced in software projects, the behavioral factors that may favorably influence knowledge sharing on software projects risks and what instruments of knowledge sharing may contribute, at a certain degree, to risk management in projects.

If the Project Management is analyzed from the point of view of new combinations that include already known techniques with a generic approach to manage projects, its biggest contribution to the organizations is found. However, the question that is raised is: how to make these management approaches generally applicable in all types, forms or origins of organizations? This paper presents, through a multiple case study, an analysis of the cultural influence, in the adoption of the Management Project in consulting and IT development companies. Based on the semi-structured interviews, its possible to note that the organizational culture, whether from the point of view of senior management or in the domain of several groups that are formed within organizations, sets limits and adjustments which are necessary for the adoption of Project Management that effectively contribute to organizational competitiveness.

Frequent technological upgrade demands and high availability of infrastructure resources motivates companies to invest and adopt in technologies without planning, in a reactive way. This work aims to observe general orientations provided by strategic alignment and knowledge management to structure technological implementation in industrial environments. Focusing a multiple case study, held in industries to evaluate the proposition of knowledge management in a production environment, it was analyzed the RFID – Radio-Frequency identification – technology introduction and application, as a basic resource with increasing offer and popularit y among practitioners. In its development, this multiple case study analyses how these technologies were applied in intuitive, non-planned way in industrial plants, not allowing to their users to obtain the best results for strategic knowledge management and alignment. These two constructs, reviewed in the literature approached are used to research how better strategic results could be obtained, if the industrial and production designers had both the strategic alignment and knowledge management theoretical basis consideration for their initial technological planning.

Knowledge leakage or knowledge seepage refers to both knowledge absorption and transfer that happens in the interaction of companies with their working environment. This work aims to analyze the knowledge leakage routes in Brazilian and United Kingdom companies, using the taxonomy presented in the literature. The case studies lead to the conclusion that Brazilian companies need to prepare themselves better for the protection of their strategic knowledge.

This study aims to reflect about market intelligence (MI) concept when exposed to a frequent comparison to competitive intelligence (CI). Due to the great interest in the competitive scenario, both concepts are usually considered the same, imprecisely combined or even regarded as exclusive. In this article, facing a broader approach for the competitive intelligence, this deeper level of detail is applied as a support to evaluate not only the conceptual difference, which could result in a better comprehension for market intelligence, but is additionally observed to understand their complementarity, when both concepts or processes become more evident, serving to produce a more robust MI conceptualization. Following a theoretical analysis of MI and CI concepts, a study of their complementarity is worked for these two processes, from two points of view: first, when analyzing its theoretical complementarity perspectives for strategic marketing planning and, in other effort, describing a case of market sector where these concepts were perceived in the studied cooperation (information technology sector). This case results in a more detailed understanding on how these concepts can occur and be perceived as complementary, obtaining the desired analysis for market intelligence concept.

In a competitive market, the use of Information Technologys tools has become indispensable for the success of the business and, as various authors pointed out, its strategic business alignment is important. This work searched to answer the following question: Is there strategic alignment among companys management and IT? For this purpose, the moment of IT solutions acquisition was mainly considered. Concepts of corporative governance, IT Governance, decision-making process and strategic alignment were analyzed in this study in order to comprehend the context where there is alignment perspective. The methodology used for this work included literatures analyses and multiple cases study, based on semi-structured interviews with managers of both areas. After the interviews, a separated case study of each company was conducted to promote, in the end, a data intersection. As its final result, the work points for inexistence of this alignment at the moment of IT acquisition. Keywords: Strategic alignment. Corporative governance. IT Governance. Decision-making process.

Information needs are more perceptible in modern enterprises, as decision taking processes demand precise descriptions of businesses environments. This information usually is spread over multiple databases and there would be situations where it must be gathered or related for complex analysis. Among tools and computational techniques applied for information availability, one of the most used is data warehouse, which can be used as database or information repository for managerial purposes, serving for data mining processes which are designed to analyze and relate data aiming more accurate decisions. Data mining algorithms implement classification and analysis over data warehouses and generate hypothesis from analyzed sources. These hypotheses can indicate business trends or knowledge hidden in standards. This study, conducted on a University, showed that would be possible to apply mining techniques to classify admission candidate data in order to evaluate business alternatives, as regions for a communication campaign.

In project management activities, the organizations deal with risks and need to manage them constantly as a way to anticipate and to minimize the effect of events that can negatively affect in the objectives of these projects and, consequently, of the organization. Amongst the types of projects, software projects present a series of peculiarities which make them particularly vulnerable to risks. The knowledge management intends to aid the companies transforming knowledge into a source of competitive advantage, being knowledge sharing a crucial factor for that. Some tools can be used to improve the knowledge sharing and some conditions or aspects of the human behavior can also favorably influence peoples disposition for sharing knowledge. A study linking these two subjects, knowledge sharing and risk management in projects was carried out to identify how knowledge sharing contributes for the risk management in projects. The main instruments and facilitative aspects of knowledge sharing were identified from available literature. On the other hand, a synthesis of diverse approaches to risk management-related activities in projects was undertaken. The empirical research was performed through a case study in the software industry of Minas Gerais. The research results obtained lead to the conclusion that, indeed, the application of instruments and facilitative aspects of knowledge sharing has positively contributed to risk management of software development projects. In addition, the results provided in-depth evidence of which types of knowledge sharing instruments have more intensively contributed for each practiced risk management activities.and which risk management activities are effectively being used in the studied companies.
