Qualidade de vida e fatores associados em idosos dependentes em uma cidade do interior do Nordeste

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine the influence of sociodemographic factors, health status, functional capacity and family dynamics on the quality of life of dependent elderly individuals living at home in a city in the hinterland of Northeast Brazil. METHODS: This is an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The sample was composed of 117 dependent elderly individuals, enrolled in the Family Health Units in the district of Jequiezinho in the city of Jequie, located in the hinterland of Bahia state. The data collection instruments used were the Family Apgar, WHOQOL-OLD, Barthels Index as well as socioeconomic and health status data. RESULTS: The chi-square (x2) test showed a statistical difference between compromised quality of life and family dynamics, with the exception of the autonomy domain (p = 0.061) of quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: It is evident that only compromised family dynamics has a negative influence on the quality of life of the functionally dependent elderly, given that the more compromised the family functionality, the worse the quality of life of these individuals.

APLICAÇÃO DO PROCESSO DE ENFERMAGEM BASEADO NA TEORIA DE OREM: ESTUDO DE CASO COM UMA ADOLESCENTE GRÁVIDA

This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach that aimed at applying the nursing process based in Orem Self-Care Theory, through a case study with a pregnant adolescent in order to identify the nursing diagnosis in the above mentioned clients, based on NANDAS nursing diagnoses. Results obtained identified three nursing diagnoses: prejudiced adaptation, sleep disturb and familiar change process. Pain characterization in institutionalized elderly patients

The aim of the present study was to identify the prevalence and characteristics of pain chronic in relation to qualitative aspects and location in elderly (65 the 104 old) institutionalized in Jequié, Bahia, Brazil. This is a descriptive exploratory study with a transversal design and quantitative approach. The instrument used consisted of: data identification; mini-mental examination; pain-related aspects; and the McGill Pain Questionnaire. Half of the subjects were women, with a pain prevalence of 73.3%, 30% of whom had experienced pain for 1 to 5 years, 25% for more than 5 years, 28.3% did not cite pain duration and 16.6% reported having had pain for less than 1 year. With respect to quantification of pain, the most cited was moderate (25.7%). Many of the elderly were in the age group of 60 to 69 years, most painful complaint lodged mild and moderate, and places most affected were, knees and lumbar spine.

Atividades educativas na prevençäo da AIDS em uma rede básica municipal de saúde: participaçäo do enfermeiro

This is an exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach that had as its purpose to characterize the educational activities of the nurses that work in the prevention and control program for sexually transmittable diseases and AIDS in the municipality of Natal, RN. The study ws conducted in the basic health care units with 10 (ten) nurses that implemented educational activities in AIDS prevention. A structured interview was used and content analysis techniques were applied to the data. It was identified that the majority of the nurses understood health education as the transmission of information and that the AIDS prevention program had insufficient actions, lacked structure in the service settings and institutional support by the Municipal Secretariat of Health. The program activities were characterized as traditional limited, sporadic, and lacking human and material resources.Estudo exploratorio descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, que objetivou caracterizar a atuacao educativa dos enfermeiros que implementam o programa de prevencao e controle das DSTs/AIDS do municipio de Natal/RN, realizada nas unidades basicas de saude, com 10 (dez) enfermeiras que atuavam desenvolvendo acoes educativas na prevencao da AIDS. Utilizou-se um roteiro de entrevista estruturado. Para a analise dos dados utilizou-se a tecnica de analise de conteudo. Identificou-se que a maioria dos enfermeiros entenderam a educacao em saude como sendo repasse de informacoes, o programa de prevencao da AIDS possuia uma acao insuficiente, com ausencia de estrutura no servico e omissao da SMS quanto ao apoio institucional. As atividades no programa, eram tradicionais, pouco abrangentes, esporadicas e sem recursos materiais e humanos capacitados.

Prostituição: causas e perspectivas de futuro em um grupo de jovens

This is a descriptive exploratory study developed at the city of Natal/RN, through interviews with 10 young girls that made sexual programs at the Meio and Ponta Negra beaches. The purpose was to identify the reasons that made young girls to opt for this activity and the future perspectives of this group. Authors identified that the principal cause that leads these kids to become prostitutes was the lack of financial conditions, and, also, that they believe in future, to be able to work, to leave the prostitution, to have a profession and a better life. Therefore, there is a need for decisions by the responsible agencies and for society in general to give alternatives to these young kids to leave prostitution and mainly to prevent the ingress of new adolescents in this activity.Este estudo do tipo descritivo exploratorio foi realizado na cidade de Natal/RN, entrevistando-se 10 jovens que fazem programas sexuais nas vias de acesso as praias do Meio e de Ponta Negra. Teve-se como objetivos identificar as razoes que as fizeram optar por esta atividade e as perspectivas de futuro desse grupo de jovens. Como principais resultados, identificou-se que a principal causa que levou essas garotas a se prostituirem foi a falta de condicoes financeiras e, como perspectivas de futuro, as adolescentes aspiram deixar a prostituicao, trabalhar, terem uma profissao e uma vida digna. Fica patente, entao, a necessidade de uma tomada de decisao por parte dos orgaos responsaveis pelo bem-estar do adolescente, como tambem, pela sociedade em geral, dando alternativas a essas jovens para que saiam do ramo da prostituicao, e principalmente que se evite o ingresso de novas adolescentes nessa atividade.

Educação continuada em enfermagem: conhecimentos, atividades e barreiras encontradas em uma maternidade escola

The purpose of the present study was to verify the knowledge, activities and the principal challenges of a group of 16 nurses regardingt continuing education. As results, many important activities in nursing continuing education were developed, for example: speeches, instructions, courses etc, and we found out that there are many difficulties and barriers to develop a continuing education program at the mentioned institution.O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar os conhecimentos, as atividades e as principais barreiras encontradas por um grupo de 16 enfermeiros sobre a educacao continuada em enfermagem. Como resultados evidenciou-se que sao desenvolvidas atividades significativas em educacao continuada tais como: palestras, treinamentos, cursos entre outros. Tambem foi constatado que ha preocupacao dos enfermeiros diante das dificuldades e barreiras encontradas para o desenvolvimento da educacao continuada na instituicao pesquisada.

Conhecimentos e opiniões de um grupo de adolescentes sobre a prevenção da AIDS

Este estudo descritivo foi realizado em uma Escola Estadual de 1o grau, localizada na cidade de Natal/RN, objetivando identificar os conhecimentos e opinioes de um grupo de adolescentes sobre a prevencao da AIDS. Foram aplicados 30 questionarios e entre os principais resultados obtidos, destacaram-se a desinformacao dos adolescentes pesquisados com relacao a essa doenca. Dentre os metodos de prevencao citados destacou-se a camisinha, nao sendo usada de forma sistematica apenas por 50% dos pesquisados.This descriptive study was developed in a State School, located in the city of Natal-RN, with the purpose to identify the knowledge and opinion of a group of adolescents about AIDS prevention. 30 questionnaires were applied and among the main obtained results, the authors found out that the adolescents are not well informed regarding this disease. Among the mentioned prevention methods they found the use of condom, but not in a systematic way by 50% of the population studied.
