UKURAN MATA DAN SHORTENING YANG SESUAI UNTUK JARING INSANG YANG DIOPERASIKAN DI PERAIRAN TUAL ((Appropriate of Mesh Size and Shortening for Gillnet Operated on Tual Waters))

Ali Rahantan; Gondo Puspito

Shortening and mesh size of gillnet that operated by Tual fishermen are various. The purposes of this study were to determine the effectively of gillnet based on different shortening and mesh size and to estimate the catch diversity index of each mesh size. The study was conducted from April 6th-May 15th of 2012 in Tual waters. Results shown that gillnet with mesh size of 2.25” and shortening of 50% caught the most number of fish (74). It was followed by gillnet of 2.50”-50% (59), 2.50”-55% (31), 2.25”-55% (24), 2.25”-45% (19), 2.50”-45% (15), 3.00”-50% (15) and 3.00”-55% (6). The Shannon index rate of gillnet with mesh size of 2.25” was 1.8, 2.50” (1.9) and 3.00” (1.1). While the Sympson index rate of gillnet with mesh size of 2.25” was 0.2, 2.50” (0.3) and 3.00” (0.4).

RANCANG BANGUN BUBU ELVER SPIRAL (Desain of Elver Spiral Traps)

Misbah Sururi; Gondo Puspito

PVC trap is used by fisherman in the southern Java Island waters to capture elver or juvenile eels measuring l 10 gr. One of some problems is how difficult the traps transportation in great quantities. This study tried to design a new trap from spiral little iron material as frame construction. The aim is toward easy tobe shorted so became simple transportation of traps. All experiments were conducted on the Fishing Gear Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural University. The study is divided into two stages, that are design of spiral traps and testing the effectiveness of a spiral trap with two pipe traps, that are elver traps modification (Sururi et al. 2014) and fisherman‘s traps as control. The entire test was conducted in the experimental tank containing between 60 elvers with 20 times repetition. The soaking time were done within 20 minutes of observation each. Spiral traps design giving simpler and easier in transporting traps, because ist weight is 0.24 kg or 3.25 time less weigh than elver traps modification and 2.16 time less weight than fisherman traps. Beside, spiral traps can be shorted to 6 cm, or 8.3 time shorter than elver traps modification and 5 time shorter than fisherman traps. The results showed that spiral traps construction caught 286 individuals or more than elver traps modification (165 individuals) and fishermens traps (43 individuals).

PENGGUNAAN LIGHT EMITTING DIODE PADA LAMPU CELUP BAGAN (The Use of Light Emitting Diode on Sunked Lamps of Lift Net)

Imanuel M. Thenu; Gondo Puspito; Sulaeman Martasuganda

ABSTRACTLift net fishermen usually use fluorescent lamp as attractor to lure fish. As price of fuel rise, fishermen are forced to find another option to change their attractor into some much lower cost and more energy-save lamp, or in other words, to change into LED lamp. This research are providing evidence that sunked LED lamps can be utilized as a helper tools, and also determined the best time for catching fish in the lift net. Two lift net used in this research, one of them used sunked LED lamps and the other used ordinary fluorescent lamps. Lift net are operated as long as 20 nights, with four catching times per night, between 18.00-21.00, 21.00-00.00, 00.00-03.00, and 03.00-06.00. Results showed that LED lamps give a better result with 11 organisms successfully catch (287,6 kg), compared to ordinary fluorescent lamps with only six organisms (238,3 kg). The best time for catching with LED lamps are between 18.00-21.00 (121 kg), while between 21.00-00.00 (67,4 kg), 00.00-03.00 (46,9 kg) and 03.00-06.00 (52,3 kg).Key words: fluorescent lamp, lift net, light emitting diode, Palabuhanratu, sunked lights-------ABSTRAKNelayan bagan biasa menggunakan lampu fluorescent sebagai atraktor untuk memanggil ikan.

Hairtail fishing (Trichiurus sp) in Palabuhanratu using handline is highly dependent on fishing bait. The bait which is usually used by fishermen is natural bait which is a piece of trash fish. The purpose of this research is to find bait alternative as a replacement of natural bait for hairtail fishing. Three type of baits used in this research were natural bait as a control, artificial bait and combination between natural and artificial bait. The aims of this research are to prove that artificial baits can increas the catch and to determine the effective time for handline fishing operations. Three kinds of baits were operated at the same time on a single unit of handline fishing boats for 22 days. The research using comparative descriptive analysis and statistical analysis completely randomized design (RAL). The results showed that combination bait can capture 453 hairtails or 52% of the total catch which is more than artificial bait that catch 223 hairtails 25% and natural bait that catch 203 hairtails 23%. The best time of the capture is between 05:00 am to 07:00 am that catch 379 hairtail or 43% of the total catch, and then at 07.00 am to 09:00 am and 09:00 am to 11:00 am, each captured 298 fish 34%, and 202 fish 23%.
