This article aims to identify suppliers to the oil industry, natural gas and naval located in Rio Grande do Sul and, in particular, in the COREDE South, inserted the Rede Petro/RS and SEBRAE, and perform a brief comparative analysis the degree of concentration of economic activities among the eight COREDES with more employees. In this regard, special attention to South COREDE observing, over the years, there were changes in the degree of concentration of its activities due to the operation of the Polo Naval and Offshore. To obtain the concentration indices was adopted the methodology of the Hirschman-Herfindahl index (HH), calculated with employment data from the RAIS. The results of this work show the tendency of COREDES Metropolitano, Vale do Rio dos Sinos and Serra are consolidated as major suppliers to the Polo Naval and Offshore Rio Grande, and the South COREDE participating in said chain with a small number of companies, many of them providers of low value-added services. In this article, we present a discussion of exchange rate policy and its potential asymmetric effects in regional terms for Brazil. The main focus is to examine how state economies are affected by variations in the level of rates. The strategy is based on modeling vector autoregressive (VAR) for data between 2000 and 2011, available for thirteen major states. The results point to confirm that there is asymmetry in the responses of the Brazilian states facing common macroeconomic shocks, since regionally differentiated impacts were found in the sample used. Thus, we show that characteristics such as production structure and trade integration in state economies are of paramount importance to explain the different levels of impacts, with very marked differences in the intensity and staging of the answers.

The environment is a growing source of concern and the debate on the incompatibilities between economic growth and environmental conservation is far from over. In this context, a number of proposals for introducing environmental restrictions into macroeconomics have been made, the IS-LM-EE model being the most interesting one. However, this model has a serious limitation insofar as it was built for closed economies. When this model is used for open economies, the outcome differs greatly, given that developing and developed economies show major differences with respect to the exploitation of natural resources. There are considerable differences between them with respect to policies to be adopted as well as solutions required to combat economic shocks. These differences intensify when environmental restrictions are taken into consideration, principally in the case of exogenous shocks resulting from international trade.
