We consider a statistical decision problem as a tool for solving control problems with a camera in the loop. The first stage is features extraction from images. Its role is to process images in order to extract features relevant for the control problem. Then, they are fed as inputs to the Bayesian decision problem. At the second stage a loss function, which is a sum of squared deviations of decisions from true decisions is considered. Finally, an approximation of the optimal decision rule is proposed, using a learning sequence of decisions, which – together with feature extracting algorithms – form the control system. The proposed approach is illustrated by a system that is dedicated to control natural gas burners.
Low-Rank Coals for Power Generation, Fuel and Chemical Production | 2017
Halina Pawlak-Kruczek
Abstract The chapter presents the basic information about properties of low rank coal (LRC) and its resource in Europe and the role of LRC for Power Generation in the world. The main system of classification LRC including the technological classification which characterizes of its industrial application is described. And different classification of LRCs aimed to technology use including main characteristics parameters was presented. The review of LRCs’ properties and data are important for the processes of energy production from coal such as sub-bituminous and lignite. The main problems in utilization of LRCs mainly resulting from composition of organic and mineral matter and subsequently the methods of upgrading are defined. At the end mainly the effect of upgrading in particular by drying of lignite, as change of pores structure, reactivity, originating from different mines in Europe was presented. At the end the analysis of possible utilization of LRC was discussed.

Brown coal is considered to be a competitive primary energy source for power generation for many countries. In order to keep its competitive edge, the improvement of the power plant efficiency is absolutely required. This could be accomplished by using clean coal technologies.
