This paper deals with the analysis of the costs, applied, for example, when treating specific diseases – an important aid in prioritizing the process of resource allocation. In our review, the specific disease is dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease. This paper aims to provide more information on the partial costs per patient that are calculated according to the aggregated data from publicly available sources as well as from the results of authors’ own investigation. The University Hospital in Hradec Králové and the General Health Insurance Company of the Czech Republic participated in this research. The elementary research objective was to compare the costs per patient diagnosed early onset, to those of the patient diagnosed later. The Czech Republic lacks information regarding dementia. Therefore, these issues require attention. The methods used in this paper included time series analyses, methods of direct questioning, interviews with experts, and analyses of medical documentation. These methods were combined to exploit their particular advantages and to ensure the issues discussed, were covered. The investigation showed that the underpinning of patients with Alzheimer’s disease at early onset is advantageous from an economic perspective, because the cost of outpatient care is much lower compared with that of inpatient care. The international comparisons of the volume of care provided should be approached with great caution. These are based solely on the facts of various expert estimates and are not usually supported by hard data. Yet, they still illustrate the overall view of our ability to take care of people with dementia. According to experts, care in the Czech Republic significantly lags behind the rest of developed Europe. While services are provided to 26% of people with dementia in Germany and 50% in France, the experts estimate that services are provided to only 10% of the population in the Czech Republic. If we were to offer a similar volume of services in the Czech Republic, to the same extent as the average in Europe, we would have to triple the existing capacities.

Abstract The world report about the Alzheimers disease (World Alzheimers Report 2013) points out that there is a lack of carers (social workers) and also lack of dependants support. The report shows, that with an aging world population the traditional informal care provided by family, friends and community ceases to be sustainable. The world report expects that in approximately 40 years the number of dependent older people will be almost three times higher - from 101 million in 2010 to 277 million in 2050. The World Health Organisation (2013) divided old age into three stages. From early old age, 60 to 74, from 74 to 89 years of age and 90 years or more is denoted like longevity. As the biggest health insurance company in the Czech Republic, the General Health Insurance Company (VZP) issues nearly 600 million Czech crowns for the treatment of patients with the Alzheimers disease. Every year there are more and more patients, last year VZP recorded more than 27 thousand patients. While not in all cases is disease diagnosed in time. Experts estimated that Alzheimers disease which is in most cases the most common cause of dementia is suffered by more than 130 thousand of citizens of Czech Republic. Every state creates its own program which focuses on old age and aging in the Czech Republic it is the “National program of preparation for aging of the population”. The aim of this program is to create conditions for the solutions of aging issues and to achieve changes in attitudes and approaches at every level. Therefore, it is necessary provide support from state and other non-state institutions which can improve the quality of life for senior citizens. The support means some kind of handover or support in various forms of assistance in diverse situations (material, economical, informational etc.).The paper describes the latest national and regional trends for people with dementia in need of care and represents an economic and managerial analysis of the long-term care systems, in the Czech Republic.

ABSTRACT Smart, connected products have the potential to shift rivalries, opening up numerous new avenues for differentiation and value-added services. New entrants in a smart, connected world face significant new obstacles, starting with the high fixed costs of a more complex product design, embedded technology and multiple layers of new IT infrastructure. As smart, connected products expand an industry’s scope and the boundaries of competition, many companies will need to rethink their corporate purpose. As products continue to communicate and collaborate in networks, which are continuously expanding both in number and diversity, many companies will have to re-examine their core mission and value proposition. The authors present an analysis of changes that were initiated by applying new of smart and connected product technologies during creative discussions about disruptive innovation development. The objective of the article is to seek answers to the following research questions: Q 1: What is the role and significance of the new concept of products obtained as a result of substantial innovations? Q 2: How does the new concept of products impact the entrepreneurial strategy of organizations? Q 3: Does this concept trigger a change to the rules of competition?

Abstract It is obvious, that the use of mobile technology in general represents a great asset for the company’s competitive ability. The greatest barriers for installation of mobile technology might be financial difficulties, negative approach of managers and employees, and also the fact, that the character of the company allows no or minimal use of mobile technology. However, while facing and overcoming the large number of difficulties, the number of companies with mobile oriented architecture in Czech Republic is growing. The use of mobile devices for localization could be particularly useful for companies to locate employees working in the field, drivers, etc. The results of study show variety of localization services of mobile devices and the use of them for services with alternate applications.

This study examines the effect of personal and work-related factors on job satisfaction based on a sample from the Czech Republic. The study, which was based on a questionnaire survey of 1,776 respondents in organizations in the Czech Republic, proposed a number of hypotheses related to demographic and organizational variables and tests using ANOVA. Results of the data analysis revealed similarities to findings in Western countries, in which men show higher job satisfaction than women. Age does not seem to have a significant effect on job satisfaction. There is low job satisfaction in public/governmental organizations and among young people entering the job market. It is suggested that it is necessary to develop a human resources strategy for the public/governmental sector that will not only increase its social prestige but also increase positive feelings among its employees. The need to better prepare undergraduates for the demands of the job market is also discussed.

Abstract To set down the amount of the company risk, its specific activities or its investment goals in the form of numerical characteristics such as probability of loss, variance or standard deviation of the company value is necessary to determine the distribution of criteria probability to which the risk is intended. The probabilistically evaluated procedures and simulation Monte Carlo are the basic important instruments which are used to determine the distribution in practice. The abstract is focused on the procedures and defines its two essential types–qualitative and quantitative. It investigates the alternative of procedures formation in the virtual three-dimensional environment Second Life within the project development GACR Decision-making processes in autonomous systems (ID 402/09/0662).

The aim of the paper is to evaluate the effect of product brand on consumer decision regarding purchase and in connection with this, to answer the specified research questions using statistical methods. The partial goal is to find out what influence a close person has on consumer decision-making. The theoretical part of the study defines the basic concepts of the given issue. The application part of the paper is first devoted to the characteristics of the analysed markets. The main part of the paper is our own research focused on the brands of laptops, which was conducted through online polling in the Czech Republic and Taiwan. The data obtained from respondents in the 19–26 age group is then analysed and compared. The data showed that there is a relationship between the brand that the consumer owns and whether it is the first brand that comes to his mind. There are some other interesting results such as that the “high cost = high quality” opinion is not related to the results of the survey.

This paper is devoted to online marketing tools and primarily focuses on the use of social networks and measuring their effectiveness. The theoretical part briefly presents the topic of online marketing and selected tools. The next section deals with the case study that analyses the use of social networks on a particular project, including measuring the efficiency of social networks by comparing the planned and actual state according to the selected metrics. In conclusion, there is a discussion on the results obtained and the possible directions, which would increase the efficiency of social networks, i.e. online marketing, are outlined. The results of assessing the current state of online marketing for the surveyed project in 2017, by comparing the planned and actual metric values, largely fail to meet the targets. With measuring social networking tools, the planned numbers of website visits and social networking orders didn’t reach their planned values. Regarding the number of fans on individual social networks, the planned status was only achieved with the Pinterest and Instagram social networks.

For learning organisations, acquiring knowledge is one of the key activities. Then for example, the acquired knowledge will allow organisations greater flexibility or a strategic advantage. As small and medium-sized organisations in the Czech Republic are of great importance from the employment of people viewpoint, this survey is focused on education in these organisations. The aim of this study is to evaluate learning time in small and medium-sized organizations in the Czech Republic and to compare the learning time of general staff and managers in these organizations. When comparing results with foreign studies, it can be argued that the results obtained correlate with each other and are satisfactory. In this study, there was a statistically significant difference found between people who are learning at least 1–10 h per month and those who are not. At the same time, the positive influence of learning on the evaluation of some dimensions was found.
