A preliminary study of modelling interconnected systems initiatives for preserving indigenous knowledge in Indonesia

Handrie Noprisson; Erzi Hidayat; Nuralamsah Zulkarnaim

This paper proposed modelling the interconnected systems initiatives which is adapted the model of developing Large-scale Systems by Rational Unified Process (RUP) for preserving indigenous knowledge in Indonesia. The interconnected system named e-Indogenous is divided into three subordinate systems, e.g. Indigenous Knowledge Codification System (IKCS), Indigenous Knowledge Repository System (IKRS) and Indigenous Knowledge Learning System (IKLS). The case study will be conducted to oral traditions of Sundanese people as one of IK in Indonesia. This paper is only preliminary study so that the content of paper only in brief analysis and plan. However, it can be baseline to arrange the holistic planning to construct the interconnected system.

Metadata development for ethnophytomedicine resources using metadata analysis approach

Handrie Noprisson; Dana Indra Sensuse; Yudho Giri Sucahyo; Lukman

This paper present recommendation of metadata element set for ethnophytomedicine resources from scientific journal publication to support the sharing and reuse among stakeholders. Ethnophytomedicine itself is traditional knowledge of local people about use of native medicinal plant. Development of metadata has been through utilizing four approaches, i.e. domain-analysis, derivation analysis, system-centric analysis, user-centric analysis and resource-centric analysis. To complete domain-analysis, we analyzed result of interview with two experts and documents that describe and review of ethnophytomedicine. In derivation analysis, the candidate elements derived from three existing related metadata standards. Moreover, to gather candidate elements in user-centric analysis, we interview the identified stakeholders of ethnophytomedicine resources. In system-centric analysis, we explored 11 systems related to ethnophytomedicine domain. The last phase, all candidate elements from derivation analysis, system-centric analysis and user-centric analysis were mapped into available information on ethnophytomedicine resources. Based on resource-centric analysis as last phase of research, we found 26 metadata elements for ethnophytomedicine resources that divided into four major sections, i.e. literature, plant, plant utilization and knowledge source.

Metadata Schema for Traditional Knowledge

Dana Indra Sensuse; Handrie Noprisson; Yudho Giri Sucahyo; Lukman Lukman

Approximately four hundred indigenous communities in Indonesia originally utilize their traditional knowledge for supporting their daily life. Because of many benefits of that knowledge, many stakeholders have started to collect and write it into a digital report. However, the digital report was still documented in the different format of metadata because there is no specific metadata schema for describing digital data of traditional knowledge. Moreover, the differences of metadata schema will make the difficult process of documenting, managing and disseminating this traditional knowledge. To overcome this problem, this work attempted to design specific metadata schema for a domain of traditional knowledge by utilizing metadata development methods, i.e., domain analysis, derivation analysis, system-centric analysis, user-centric analysis and resource-centric analysis. The selection of those methods based on literature review result toward research articles that presented about metadata development. As a result, this paper proposed metadata schema of traditional knowledge that consists of 37 metadata elements which are categorized into 6 metadata sections, i.e., supporting data, material, supporting tool, success story, knowledge source, and knowledge engineer.

This research aim to provide a comprehensive review about improving creativity based on knowledge management: socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. Detailing the findings that can guide to obtained a model that explains the factor that influences creativity. Improvement of creativity can affect in learning process, taking action, emotional control and enhance quality of a product. Using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) method and data source such as: Science Direct, and IEEE Xplore. Through the literature we obtain 17 articles to be reviewed. This systematic review is conducted to improve creativity and collect the critical success factor that influence creativity. Based on our result, critical success factor of creativity are: environment, resource, personal characteristic, and SECI. Creativity itself is categorized into knowledge, dispositions and abilities.

Our research describes the operationalization of ontology engineering methodology based on socio-technical approach named socio-technical ontology engineering methodology. To present clear description of socio-technical ontology engineering (STOE) methodology, this research using systematic literature review to identify, review and synthesis publication of qualitative research in ontology engineering to get theme and sb-themes important. There are three academic research databases that are used to scanning for the relevant reference articles, IEEEXplore, Science Direct and Google Scholar. This study obtained 20 literature and the selected articles are grouped by databases, years and categories in this study. Result of this study is the operationalization of ontology engineering methodology to develop ontology that consists of five main phases namely planning, analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation.

This study attempted to point out the role of social capital and explicit as well as tacit knowledge sharing to build human capital of students in higher educational institution in Indonesia. The research model was adapted and inspired from Aslam et al.s model, however, we modified knowledge sharing variable by dividing it into two types of knowledge, i.e. explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge. The data collection conducted by spreading online questionnaires to students in several higher educational institutions in Indonesia. As many as 420 valid sample data was used to test hypotheses by using structural equation modeling (SEM). The result shows that the influence of component social factor between tacit knowledge sharing and explicit knowledge sharing is different. The components of social capital that influence to explicit knowledge sharing are shared language, social interaction ties, norm of reciprocity, identification and trust. However, the components of social capital that influence to explicit knowledge sharing are identification, norm of reciprocity, social interaction ties, shared language, shared vision. Moreover, tacit knowledge sharing is more influenced to human capital than explicit knowledge sharing. The result of this research can be used as basic knowledge for system developer to define features of knowledge sharing system in higher educational institution in Indonesia.

This research attempted to evaluate m-government implementation based on user perspective through qualitative as well as quantitative approach named mixed method approach. After conducting literature study, we defined System Usability Scale (SUS) as quantitative approach and dimension of D&M IS success model as basic for conducting qualitative approach. As case study, this paper presented the evaluation of m-Government named Qlue which is operated on mobile device to capture and response complaints from citizen in Jakarta. A total of respondent is 30 that is main user of application and worked as employee in government of Jakarta. The result of evaluation derived by analyzing feedback from questionnaire and interview to understand government employee opinion toward Qlue application implementation. Both of qualitative and quantitative results show that application had a low degree of satisfaction towards the usability and aspects to encourage user participation.

Handrie Noprisson; Nanang Husin; Nuralamsah Zulkarnaim; Puji Rahayu; Arief Ramadhan; Dana Indra Sensuse

This paper attempted to investigate antecedent factor of consumer attitudes toward three advertising media, i.e. SMS, e-mail and social media. The research model adapted Ducoffes model and Brackett&Carrs model. The analysis is based on a survey conducted in Indonesia. As many as 208 questionnaires have been collected to test 12 hypotheses through two-tailed test with significance level between 1% to 10%. As the result, four significant antecedent factors for attitudes toward SMS advertising: irritation, informativeness and credibility. Moreover, three factors, i.e. entertainment, informativeness and credibility, were correlated to costumer attitude toward e-mail advertising. The last, the attitude of social media advertising was only influenced by credibility aspect.
