This paper discusses the roles of professional engineers (PEs) who are attached to the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) and how their contributions are as important as their counterparts in the industry. This paper highlights the roles for PEs at IHLs based on a survey conducted at selected IHLs in Malaysia. Academician-professional engineers have crucial responsibilities to develop graduates who later promote safer and cutting-edge engineering solutions. These new technologies will make Malaysia an environmentally healthier place and further prepare Malaysia towards a developed nation at the end of the decade. From the survey, we conclude that PEs at IHLs make use of their professional qualifications to enhance their knowledge therefore provide better work quality. We also found that lecturers with these qualifications have higher confidence in their own ability to success in their careers and to face and help the public.

We have systematically investigated the current-voltage (I-V), absorbance and optical band gap of TiO2 thin film prepared through varying the molarity of the TiO2 precursor by sol-gel spin coating technique. In addition to the electrical and optical characteristics, the surface morphology was examined by using Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). From the image of the AFM, we were able to observe the uniformity of the TiO2 thin film. From the experimental results, we found that the uniformity of the TiO2 thin film is optimized at 0.2M sample. It is also found that, as the molarity increased, there is tendency of the resistivity to decrease. Not only that, the absorbance measurement and optical band gap also gave its best value for 0.2M sample. Therefore, in this work it is concluded that 0.20M of TiO2 gave the best characteristics for all measurements.

Copper oxide were prepared by sol-gel technique and deposited onto quartz substrates as thin films using spin coating method. The aim of this research was to study the effects of different spin coating speeds of copper oxide thin films on the electrical and optical properties of the thin films. Five samples of copper oxide thin films with different spin coating speeds of 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 rpm were annealed at 600°C for 30 minutes. UV-Vis spectrophotometer and two-point probe technique were used to characterize the optical and electrical properties of the deposited films. Based on the results obtained, it revealed that the electrical conductivity of the copper oxide thin films reduce as the spin coating speeds increase. The calculated optical band gap and the resistivity of the copper oxide thin films also decrease when the spin coating speeds are increased.

Investment and operating costs are the biggest obstacles in modernizing fish ponds in an otherwise very lucrative industry i.e. food production, in this region. Small-scale farmers running on small ponds could not afford to hire workers to man daily operations which usually consists of monitoring water levels, temperature and feeding fish. Bigger scale enterprises usually have some kinds of automation for water monitoring and replacement. These entities have to consider employing pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) sensors to ensure the health and growth of fish, sooner or later as their farms grow. This project identifies one of the sites, located in Malacca. In this project, water, temperature, pH and DO levels are measured and integrated with aerating and water supply pumps using Arduino. User could receive information at predetermined intervals on preferred communication or display gadgets as long as they have internet. Since integrating devices are comparatively not expensive; it usually consists of Arduino board, internet and relay frames and display system, farmer could source these components easily. A sample of two days measurements of temperature, pH and DO levels show that this farm has a high-quality water. Oxygen levels increases in the day as sunshine supports photosynthesis in the pond. With this integration system, farmer need not hire worker at their site, consequently drive down operating costs and improve efficiency.

Received Dec 04, 2017 Revised Jan 11, 2018 Accepted Apr 15, 2018 Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) are fundamental technology in health care that permits the information of a patient’s essential body parameters to be gathered by the sensors. However, the safety and concealment defense of the gathered information is a key uncertain problem. A Hybrid Key Management (HKM) scheme [13] is worked based on Public Key Cryptography (PKC)-authentication scheme. This scheme uses a oneway hash function to construct a Merkle Tree. The PKC method increase the computational complexity and lacking scalability. Additionally, it increases expensive computation, communication costs and delay. To overcome this problem, Robust Security for Protected Health Information by ECC with signature Hash Function in WBAN (RSP) is proposed. The system employs hash-chain based key signature technique to achieve efficient, secure transmission from sensor to user in WBAN. Moreover, Elliptical Curve Cryptography algorithm is used to verifies the authenticate sensor. In addition, it describes the experimental results of the proposed system demonstrate the efficient data communication in a network.A Weblogs contains the history of User Navigation Pattern while user accessing the websites. The user navigation pattern can be analyzed based on the previous user navigation that is stored in weblog. The weblog comprises of various entries like IP address, status code and number of bytes transferred, categories and time stamp. The user interest can be classified based on categories and attributes and it is helpful in identifying user behavior. The aim of the research is to identifying the interested user behavior and not interested user behavior based on classification. The process of identifying user interest, it consists of Modified Span Algorithm and Personalization Algorithm based on the classification algorithm user prediction can be analyzed. The research work explores to analyze user prediction behavior based on user personalization that is captured from weblogs.Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) are fundamental technology in health care that permits the information of a patient’s essential body parameters to be gathered by the sensors.
