Elizian Braga Rodrigues Bernardo; Hellen Lívia Oliveira Catunda; Mirna Fontenele de Oliveira; Paula Renata Amorim Lessa; Samila Gomes Ribeiro; Ana Karina Bezerra Pinheiro

The study aimed to analyze the methodological course for translation and adaptation of scales in dissertations and theses of Brazilian nursing in the fiof Sexual and Reproductive Health. It is an integrative review of Brazilian dissertations and theses available in the electronic catalog of the Brazilian Nursing Association, in the period from 2000 to 2009, being identifi ed three theses which composed the elements of the study. The three analyzed theses had Beaton et al. as a methodological reference; however, they differ in the followed path as suggested by those authors. It was noticed a prevalence of non-uniformity of the process of translation and transcultural adaptation, as well as no detailed information regarding the methodological course. The study identifi ed the main focus of production of Brazilian nursing on the type of research methodology in the area of sexual and reproductive health, as well as compliance with the steps required to do so.The study aimed to analyze the methodological course for translation and adaptation of scales in dissertations and theses of Brazilian nursing in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health. Objective: to highlight the methodological approach used in thesis/dissertations for constructing and validating protocols in the Nursing area. Method: a literature review was performed online at the Library of the Center for Study and Research in Nursing, and at the Thesis Databank of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. Eight theses and 16 dissertations were included in the final sample. Results: it was found that the most common steps in constructing protocols were reviewing the scientific literature and using professionals to assist in this process. In studies related to protocol validation, the presence of groups of specialists/judges on the subject matter ranging from three to 16 in quantity was found, with the majority presenting up to ten judges. Regarding analysis of the validation process, we noticed a higher prevalence of agreement between the judges and the Content Validity Index. Conclusion: development of this type of technology constitutes a complex and multifaceted area, adapted to researchers’ expectations and objectives. DESCRIPTORS: Protocols. Methods. Introduction: congenital syphilis is a systemic infectious disease of chronic evolution caused by the Treponema pallidum bacterium dissemination to the fetus through the placenta of infected pregnant women untreated or treated improperly, occurring at any stage of pregnancy or clinical stage of the disease. Objective: epidemiological analysis of congenital syphilis in the State of Ceara from 2007 to 2010. Methods: documentary study conducted in March, 2013, through the database available at the Center for Information and Analysis in Health which keep the information about the National System of Notifiable Diseases records. There were 1,577 notifications of congenital syphilis cases. Results: the following results were observed: 71.78% (n = 1,132) of women who had their children diagnosed with congenital syphilis attented to prenatal consultation; 46.16% (n = 728) had a diagnosis of syphilis identified only during delivery/curettage; about 69.5% (n = 1,096) of pregnant women partners did not undergo any treatment for congenital syphilis. It was noted that over 90% of children were diagnosed with congenital syphilis until the sixth day of birth, and the most prevalent final classification was recent syphilis with 83.83% (n = 1,322) of cases. The most common clinical evolution for children had a favorable outcome, as more than 75% of them underwent treatment and remained alive during the studied period. Conclusion: the thorough analysis of congenital syphilis cases and the factors involved in the process are of fundamental importance to support the actions to prevent and control the disease.
