The solutions of the classical differential equations for flow of a viscous fluid in an elastic tube are shown to yield a description of some aspects of the flow of blood in the femoral artery. The parameters influencing the speed of the pulse wave, the pressure, and the velocity for non-pulsating and pulsating flow are exhibited. The relation between pressure and velocity are considered in some detail. It is shown that for pulsating flow the slope of the pressure versus fluid velocity curve is equal to the pulse wave speed multiplied by the density of the blood.

Voraussetzung fur die genaue Bestimmung der Radioaktivitat einer Verbindung ist ihre absolute radioaktive Reinheit. Es mus daher mit auserster Sorgfalt festgestellt werden, ob die gemessene Aktivitat tatsachlich nur von der betreffenden Verbindung stammt oder ob diese noch radioaktive Verunreinigungen enthalt. Dies gilt sowohl fur das isotopenmarkierte Ausgangsmaterial als auch besonders fur die aus biologischem Material isolierten Stoffwechselprodukte, deren Aktivitat bestimmt werden soll.

Durch eine Lokalisation des Isotops kann weiterhin gepruft werden, in welcher Weise die markierte Verbindung in das Stoffwechselprodukt eingebaut wird, ob wahrend des Stoffwechsels eine Veranderung in der Reihenfolge von Atomen eintritt und ob bestimmte Atome oder Atomgruppierungen abgespalten werden.
