The Boundary Element Method Applied to Some Quasi-nonlinear problems

ABSTRACT The direct boundary integral equation can be applied to some quasi-nonlinear problems with the following vector equations, which includes a self-adjoint linear differential operator f. i (·) of order 2N, that I. i (U)=fi+Ni where some sort of nonlinear terms are at the right-hand side of the equations. The direct boundary integral equation for such kind of problems can be derived by the weighted residual formulation. In some cases the problems are apparently weakly nonlinear, say, a nonlinear equation subject to a linear boundary condition or a linear equation subject to nonlinear boundary conditions. Some numerical results have been carried out which seems to be feasible for some simple problems such as large deformation problem of the Rlastica.
