First report of Botrytis cinerea on golden berry

Botrytis cinerea infection of golden berry was reported for the first time from Turkey. The pathogen caused grey mould disease. The disease was widely observed in a golden berry orchard in Samsun province (Eastern Black Sea region), Turkey. The fungus was identified as B. cinerea based on morphological characteristics and sequence analysis.

MERZİFON İLÇESİ BAĞCILIĞI VE GELİŞTİRİLMESİ İÇİN YAPILAN ÇALIŞMALAR

Eski bir yerlesim yeri olan Merzifon’da bagcilik uzun yillar oncesine dayanmaktadir. M.O. 8. yy.’da kurulmus olan ilcenin iklim yapisi sofralik, ozellikle saraplik ve siralik uzum uretimine son derece elverislidir. Ayrica gecit bolgesinde olmasi, dort ana yolu bir birine baglayan bir konumda bulunmasi ve sivil hava alanina sahip olmasi nedeniyle Merzifon son derece onemli bir merkez konumundadir. Bu yonuyle nakliye ve pazarlama konusunda cok sansli gorulmektedir. Ilcede son yillarda, kaliteli bir saraplik uzum cesidi olan Merzifon Karasi ile modern baglar tesis edilmekte, yorede tekrar bagcilik bilinci olusturulmaya calisilmaktadir. Calismada Merzifon Ilcesinin ekolojisi incelenerek, yorenin bagcilik potansiyeli ortaya konulmus ve karsilasilan sorunlara deginilmistir. Viticulture in Merzifon district, which is an old settlement established in the 8th century B.C., has been based on very ancient times. Climate and soil conditions in Merzifon are suitable for both table and especially for wine and juice grape growing. In addition, Merzifon district gains importance with its central location near to the highway crossing main cities and domestic airport. Hence, it seems to have some advantages for transporting and marketing organizations. In recent years, modern vineyards have been being established with a high quality wine grape cultivar, called Merzifon Karasi, and growers have been being promoted to be aware of viticulture. In the present study, viticulture potential of Merzifon district under its ecological condition was investigated and possible solutions to problems were discussed.
