Semantic service discovery and matching for semi-automatic service mashup

Yoo-Mi Park; HyunKyung Yoo; Cinyoung Hur; Hyun-Joo Bae; Yuchul Jung

A service mashup goes through several processes, which it takes much time and efforts for developers to mashup of many heterogeneous web services. To mitigate the complexity of a service mashup and automate the mashup process, the present paper proposes semantic service discovery and matching technologies. The semantic service discovery technology is capable of finding out more appropriate and ranked services with a given query, and the semantic service matching technology enables searching for compatible and interoperable services automatically across a number of heterogeneous web services. The semantic service discovery and matching technologies are based on the service ontology and service metadata that play important roles in relieving the semantic gap between a users natural query and the technical service description. To verify the usability and effectiveness of the proposed technologies on this environment, experiments and simple use cases are shown. The results indicate that the proposed technologies help developers create new mashup applications more effectively and conveniently.

Ontology based keyword dictionary server for semantic service discovery

HyunKyung Yoo; Yoo-Mi Park; Taedong Lee

Web service discovery relies on matching between the description of service functionality and the user requirement. To minimize the gap between service description and user requirement, it is effective to expand query keywords with domain-specific ontologies and make use of the extended keywords in service discovery. In this paper, we propose the keyword dictionary server that supports ontology modeling, keyword expansion, and similarity calculation between ontology terms with reasoning. It expands the synonyms and hyponyms of query keywords and can help to discover the suitable services to meet the users query intention. Also we present the performance measurement result of keyword dictionary server to verify deployment performance of server that provides REST interfaces. Our keyword dictionary server can support semantic service discovery by matching between the user query and service description through the keywords expansion.

Semantic web service processes enabling goal-driven application creation

Yoo-Mi Park; HyunKyung Yoo; Yuchul Jung; Cinyoung Hur; Hyun-Joo Bae

We propose a novel semantic web service process which consists of service annotation, discovery, and composition for a goal-driven computing. The proposed web service process is the key enabler of our goal-driven application creation environment that helps software developers to make new application semi-automatically by accomplishing their programming goals. Especially, in the goal-driven computing, we employ goal ontology and goal pattern library to bridge the gap between concrete services on the Web and users declarative goals in the real world. The proposed semantic service process can be performed under the existing web services environment without new service models proposed for semantic and goal-driven computing by previous works, such as OWL-S and WSMO. Ultimately, we expect that the proposed process can promote the growth of converged applications across the domains and service providers.

Semi-automatic Semantic Service Annotation for SOAP and REST Web Services

HyunKyung Yoo; Yoo-Mi Park; Hyun-Joo Bae

Until now, most service annotation has been added the semantics to WSDL, that is a description of SOAP based web services. But REST services have been widely used because of simplicity and usability. In order to discover the most suitable services among various web services and compose them, the integrated service annotation of SOAP and REST web services is necessary. In this paper, we present semantic service framework which is designed for user’s goal based service discovery and composition. And we present the semi-automatic service annotation for SOAP and REST web services. The proposed annotation approach deals with functional semantics, non-functional semantics, and data semantics from web service description and web service portal. Based on this service annotation, it is useful to discover and compose services that satisfy the user’s goal.

A Study on the Method of Providing Family Finder on TV Services in the Open Service Platform

HyunKyung Yoo; Sangki Kim

According to the innovative development of digital information technology, our society is evolving to NGN that combines the diverse telecom and broadcasting network into a converged network. For various NGN services, it needs to open network resources to 3rd party service providers. And then, service providers enable to develop and provide more converged services with open API technology. In this paper, we define the architecture and Geocoding APIs that supported the location address of mobile subscriber. And we provide the concept and control flow of the family finder on TV services by using Geocoding API. Finally, we describe the effects of Geocoding API comparing to the existing location service model.

The mobile edge intelligence services based on the space-specific ontology

HyunKyung Yoo; Changsup Keum

Due to the recent explosive growth of mobile devices and IoTs, the high quality and low latency services are getting important. To guarantee the service quality of mobile users, it requires a mobile edge service platform that provides service delivery at the network edge. The advantages of mobile edge service platform provide low latency and security, by computing and networking services at the proximity of users. In this paper, we propose the environment of providing of mobile edge services and the architecture of mobile edge service platform. And we present the use case of service recommendation by using space-specific ontology.

The contents sharing services based on service platform in high speed moving vehicles

HyunKyung Yoo; Changsup Keum

It is increasing for mobile users to access mobile network in a moving vehicle like train or subway. For the high quality contents services in vehicles, we deploy the network access node and the mobile service platform on vehicles. So users connect to the Wi-Fi hot spot and use the contents services with high speed. The people who connect to the same Wi-Fi on the train or subway form the proximity group. They can share the local contents of the destination information. In this paper, we propose the instant contents sharing services for the proximity group in high speed moving vehicle. It based on the mobile service platform which manages the proximity group members and supports the contents sharing. We implemented this service, with the form of android app. We provide the station contents of seok-chon and jamsil subway station in Seoul. Also, users can be provided the preference based contents, according to station change.

Service platform for user schedule based applications recommendation

HyunKyung Yoo; Yoo-Mi Park; Changsup Keum

Due to the recent rapid growth of service applications, the need for service platform which allows development and management of applications has increased. A service platform supports developers to create and mashup applications by combining components of existing applications and web services. In this paper, we use mashlet that is the basic component of mashup application that implements a specific functionality. In this paper, we propose the service platform provides the user schedule based applications recommendation including mashlets. It extracts the events from user schedules and estimates intents by event type classification. And, it recommends the mashlets matched with intents. Thus, the useful mashlet recommendation can enhance the availability of applications or mashlets. Also we develop the schedule applications and mashlets that show our platform features. As our platform uses schedules that can connect to user actions, and suggests the more useful applications to comply with users need, without search and download of applications.
