Adaptive repetitive control for an eccentricity compensation of optical disk drivers

Kyung-Bae Chang; Il-Joo Shim; Gwi-Tae Park

This paper present an adaptive repetitive control scheme for optical disk drivers to track a periodic reference signal with dynamic change in period. Periodic disturbances can be adequately attenuated using the concept of repetitive control, provided the known period. Optical disk drivers support various speeds. So optical disk drivers have the varying periodic disturbance. To deal with time varying periodic disturbances, a proposed repetitive controller is turned based on repetitive control to change sampling frequency to follow the change of reference period The proposed adaptive repetitive control consists of two portions, the repetitive controller and the frequency multiplier, where the former uses a varying sampler operating at a variable sampling rate maintained at fixed multiple times of the disturbance frequency and the latter generate the vary sampling frequency based on the disturbance frequency. An adaptive repetitive control scheme is proposed, implemented on experimental set of an optical disk driver, and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods and the improvement of the random access time.

Separated ethernet algorithm for intelligent building network integration using TCP/IP

Kyung-Bae Chang; Il-Joo Shim; Gwi-Tae Park

As the buildings become intelligent with the development of information communication, many facilities have appeared. Usually, each facility performed independent functions, but with the development of the internet, the facilities integrate with each other and perform various new abilities. At present, in order to offer linked service by integrating, PC servers are being used. However, the use of a PC server is expensive, consumes a lot of electricity and needs a lot of room. Therefore, this paper proposes the Embedded Web Server, which can substitute the existing PC server and control devices through the Web. Also, we propose integration through wireless communication, which can solve problems like complicating wiring and space restriction.

The architecture to implement the home automation systems with LabVIEW TM

Kyung-Bae Chang; Jae-Woo Kim; Il-Joo Shim; Gwi-Tae Park

Problems like poor security, transfer delay or packet loss occur while building network systems that are applied with TCP/IP integrate with data network systems. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the Separated Ethernet, which can give logically separation and priority to the system, and by using the OPNET Modeler simulator, we will verify its performances.

Meteorological phenomena measurement system using the wireless network

Kyung-Bae Chang; Il-Joo Shim; Seung-Woo Shin; Gwi-Tae Park

It becomes a topic that constructional environment could be controlled at any place and anytime in the ubiquitous era. It demands much expenses and technology to control everything. Therefore, we presented construct environment that could control home from outside using inexpensive USB web camera, we suggested that we could control it quickly by PDA. Proposed program could be used to many applications including home automation, monitor system and was verified through the experiment. [1] For implementation LabVIEWTM was chosen as software along with USB web camera and a wireless client (PDA).

Meteorological phenomena measurement system based on embedded system and wireless network

Kyung-Bae Chang; Il-Joo Shim; Seung-Woo Shin; Gwi-Tae Park

In this paper, we proposed a system of the weather disaster prevention in specific areas where the construction of the wire communication infrastructure is hard. This would be able to minimize the damage of men because the system has easiness of materialization with the existing wireless communication network, gets economic profits and can be set up in the back region such as a remote place, island so a person with a mobile terminal can receive a warning matter of the area he is in.

Sang-Min Baek; Kyung-Bae Chang; Il-Joo Shim; Gwi-Tac Park

This paper aims at the reliable gathering of meteorological data of all the regions, by the use of wireless networks, in order to prevent meteorological disasters. For simple installation in areas like mountains, embedded system technology, which shows high performances and small sizes, to process the meteorological data.
